Job description

Company Description Self-employed logistics professionals provide tailored transportation and supply chain services to a diverse range of customers, often focusing on flexibility, responsiveness, and personalized support. Operating independently allows for customized solutions that address unique shipping requirements, cost considerations, and service-level expectations. Work is typically fast-paced and dynamic, involving coordination with carriers, shippers, and internal stakeholders to move goods efficiently and reliably. This environment offers opportunities to build strong client relationships, expand a book of business, and develop specialized expertise in regional and national logistics.
Role Description This is a full-time, on-site role based in Millville, PA for a Logistics Outside Sales Representative working in a self-employed capacity. The role includes prospecting and visiting potential and existing customers, presenting logistics and transportation solutions, and negotiating rates and service terms. Day-to-day tasks involve generating leads, managing a sales pipeline, preparing proposals, and following up on quotes to secure new and repeat business. The representative will coordinate closely with carriers and operations teams to ensure timely pickups and deliveries, resolve service issues, and maintain accurate records of customer interactions and shipments. The position also requires monitoring market trends, identifying new opportunities, and consistently meeting or exceeding established sales and margin targets.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in outside sales, account management, or business development, preferably in logistics, freight, or transportation services.
  • Strong knowledge of basic logistics concepts such as routing, scheduling, pricing, and carrier selection, with the ability to explain service options clearly to customers.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to build trust, handle objections, and maintain long-term customer relationships.
  • Solid organizational and time-management abilities, including maintaining a structured sales pipeline, prioritizing visits, and documenting customer activities accurately.
  • Proficiency with common office and CRM tools (e.g., email, spreadsheets, contact management systems) and comfort working with digital documents and reporting.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented approach with the capacity to work independently, make decisions, and take initiative in a self-employed environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for customer visits and on-site appointments in Millville, PA and surrounding areas.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in logistics, business, or a related field is beneficial.
