Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for designing and delivering successful Automation Testing as part of the NMDP Information Technology Quality Assurance team. Responsibilities include planning, designing, and developing an Automation Framework for facilitating manual regression tests from development into the framework, mentoring projects teams on automation and performance testing, providing work direction and execution of Automation test activities, and providing related reporting. As a key QA liaison, interact directly with IT and customers while performing duties and communicates known risks, or compliance issues discovered within software.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:QA Leadership:
  • Provide QA leadership on the product/project team and drive alignment to QA best practices and processes.
  • Champion quality culture across the development lifecycle and advocate for continuous improvement.
  • Ensuring that QA deliverables are complete, organized and delivered in a timely manner.
  • Identifying and reporting quality risks and issues and working with the PO/PM and team members to resolve.
  • Lead or coordinate performance, load, and security testing initiatives as part of the broader test strategy.
  • Facilitating and resolving escalated issues with various levels of leadership and stakeholders.
  • Reporting program status on test execution, defects, and risks to effectively communicate product quality to the QA manager and appropriate project team members.
  • Working with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and customers on user acceptance criteria and to support User Acceptance Testing.
  • Providing leadership in post-implementation and post-warranty project transition.
  • Providing leadership on production support testing activities such as defect triage, hot fixes or scheduled release regression and smoke testing.
  • Mentor and guide QA team members and developers on automation best practices and technical implementation.
  • Contribute to enterprise-wide QA initiatives and standards for automation maturity.
Automated Testing:
  • Setting up, maintaining, and performing test automation frameworks on multiple application platforms and building test scenarios and acceptance tests.
  • Working closely with IT Project teams, Business Partners, and Operations Partners to collaborate on product design, and offer input on the testability of functional elements and product designs.
  • Understanding the flow of code and how it interacts with different components and analyzing complex applications to design, build and implement test scripts that ensure the testability, robustness, and performance of production software.
  • Assisting the project/product team in identifying, evaluating, and prioritizing Regression Review and analyzing the automation implementation to identify the possibility of reoccurrence of program operating problems to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Analyzing complex applications to design, build, organize & maintain test scripts at the right application layer.
  • Designing the various test types (Functional, Smoke, Regression) for automation and maintaining the Automation Framework (core library design and files).
  • Writing various types of test scripts including but not limited to web services, messaging, database validation, file handling and XML parsing.
  • Tracking and reporting the results of automation testing.
  • Identifying and reporting on problems, risks, issues, and barriers within testing processes.
  • Developing utility programs as needed to create new or modify existing procedures.
  • Analyzing, learning, and installing new automation testing tools and/or methodologies while researching the changing marketplace to keep current with technology and upgrades.
  • Experience using service virtualization or mocking tools (e.g., WireMock, Postman, SoapUI) to simulate APIs or third-party systems during testing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge:
  • Quality assurance principles and best practices (integration, system, regression, performance, and user acceptance).
  • Object-oriented design with programming skills in modern object-oriented languages such as Java, C#, JavaScript, Python or other.
  • Code versioning tools such as GitLab and GitHub.
  • Setting up and working in automation build tools e.g., GitLab, Maven, Kubernetes (K8).
  • CI/CD tools such as Gitlab, Jenkins, Drone.
  • Agile software development tools for test management e.g., JIRA, ALM.
  • Testing tools & frameworks such as Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, JUnit or similar.
Abilities:
  • Experience designing and developing test strategies, test plans, and conducting quality reviews, and implementing quality standards, tracking defects, and resolving system/environment issues.
  • Experience leading QA teams on projects, and monitoring team member performance on assigned tasks and identifying and escalating project risks and consolidating and reporting project status on team member activity.
  • Experience implementing a Quality Management System as measured by ISO25010 standards and working with ISO9001 standards for delivering effective/efficient client engagements.
  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, life sciences) and applying validation practices aligned with GxP or FDA regulatory requirements.
  • Experience utilizing test automation and performance testing with an understanding for the appropriateness of automation in framing a TQM solution.
  • Experience with measuring Quality Assurance effectiveness and creating enterprise metrics to give status and proactively identify/mitigate risks.
  • Experience building and fostering an environment for Quality Assurance to succeed within the team and within areas outside the team.
  • Work with cross-functional/matrixed teams to deliver quality at the highest level.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to converse with executive management as needed.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems, math, or related technical field which required programming. However, upon evaluation, equivalent related experience and/or education may be substituted for the degree requirement.
  • 10 years’ experience in IT including QA experience with software testing tools, techniques, and methodologies; short release cycles, the full software lifecycle; work on a product that was released for public consumption and benchmarking, performance analysis and measurement.
  • 5 years of formal software test automation experience with windows and client server applications. Experience with commercial off-the-shelf software (COTS) and data validation within a relational database environment preferred.
  • 5 years of Agile development experience.
  • 3 years Salesforce automation and/or development experience (for Salesforce roles only).
