INEOS is a global manufacturer of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals and oil products. It comprises 28 businesses each with a major chemical company heritage. Its production network spans 148 sites in 26 countries throughout the world.

Headquartered in League City, TX, INEOS Olefins and Polymers USA is one of the largest producers of olefins and polyolefins in North America. INEOS produces high-density polyethylene and polypropylene from one of its manufacturing locations at Battleground Manufacturing Complex.

The O&P USA business includes the product lines Ethylene, Propylene, Butadiene, Polypropylene and Polyethylene. Manufacturing sites include Chocolate Bayou Works (Alvin, TX), Battleground Manufacturing Complex (LaPorte, TX), and Carson (Carson, CA), with a division office in League City, TX. Overall O&P USA has ~ 1,200 employees, 1,400 contractors, and annual revenue of over $3 billion.

How the Role Fits In:

The PP marketplace and our PP product portfolio are exceptionally diverse and require skillful understanding of the market. The PP Business Analyst coordinates with a broad range of personnel including the PP Business Manager, the PP Product Manager, Polymers Controller, Polymers Financial Analyst, Polymers Pricing Analyst, PP Sales Director, PP Channel Sales Director, Sales team members, Product Development Personnel in conjunction with the Segment Teams, Customer Service, and Production Scheduling.

Purpose of Job

The PP Business Analyst provides key business analyses to drive the daily operational tactics and decisions and to support the long term strategy development for the PP product line business.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

  • Develop accurate price realization and rebate forecasts for the monthly GFO, weekly product line updates, and annual budget plan. Analyze accuracy of forecasts and continuously improve.
  • Provide timely and accurate data analysis to support the PP business strategy including the PP utilization/margin curve, PP industry data and trends, PP market segment analyses, PP margin analyses for asset profitability studies, and other strategic analyses as required.
  • Provide timely analysis of market and business data to support regularly scheduled decision making meetings including: Supply & Operations Planning, PP Asset Team, PP Business Team, strategic reviews, asset profitability reviews, and major project status reviews.
  • Provide critical support for the ATN (Authority to Negotiate) process on a daily basis through interface with the sales team to facilitate opportunity definition by sales, through interface with supply chain team on logistics cost to serve for ATN development, and through forward looking margin analysis for opening offer and walk-away points.
  • As INEOS PP representative to ACC (American Chemistry Council), report INEOS PP data to ACC monthly.
  • Using aggregate industry data from ACC and Industry Consultants, prepare the monthly PP Industry Report for the sales team to use in discussions with customers. Prepare other analyses for use by the sales team as required.
  • Maintain monthly PP Business reporting metrics.
  • Track and analyze trends in the single ply roofing materials market in support of the strategic soft TPO product platform.
  • Serve as SPA for verifying/improving COPA data accuracy.
  • Represent the PP Business on the Segment Teams which manages product technical service and development
  • Serve as backup to perform specified responsibilities in the absence of the PP Product Manager.
  • Provide market updates on propylene for the commercial team in the sales meeting.
  • Support the Circular Economy Project - 19-01 Business Strategy for Circular Economy: Metrics, Business Impact and Strategy team with data analyses.
  • Participate in or lead Six Sigma Green Belt project(s) as appropriate.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1+ years of experience in either commercial operations, sales, supply chain/logistics, procurement, technology, finance, accounting, manufacturing, and business systems
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Yellow Belt training is a plus.

Skills/Competencies

  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills including competency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word). Knowledge of Arkieva, SAP, Dynamics 365, and/or COPA is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and drive to achieve accuracy.
  • Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to help colleagues adhere to business processes and procedures while progressing successful delivery of business results.
  • Inquisitive and commercially astute.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently (70-100%) sitting and keyboard use;
  • Occasionally (less than 30%) lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds;
  • Infrequently (10% or less) ascending and descending stairs, bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, and reaching at/below shoulder height.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer screen and extensive reading.
