Eaton's ES AMER Sector Integration division is currently seeking a Technical Writer.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year.

What you'll do:
We are seeking a Technical Writer to create and maintain clear, accurate, and user friendly documentation that helps customers and internal teams understand and use our products with confidence. The Technical Writer will collaborate closely with engineers, developers, subject matter experts, product managers, quality assurance, and the UX teams to transform complex technical information into polished content that drives product adoption and improves the overall user experience. The Technical Writer will also create a technical documentation strategy that includes the following: version tracking, master document storage plan, change marking standards, global best practices for verbiage and content to support future translation, review/approval records, status reporting, internal/external document publishing, and other elements. The Technical Writer will also contribute to a shared content strategy to optimize use across mediums, including training and content shared in-application, and provide feedback on product use discovered through the documentation process.
The Technical Writer is responsible for authoring documentation, tutorials, visual communication assets, and standards that support Eaton's Brightlayer software platforms and reusable technologies. This position transforms complex technical concepts into clear, accessible content for internal and external audiences.
Essential Functions:
• Create written documentation for software products and services (e.g., administration guides, user manuals, customer specifications, whitepapers, etc.).
• Produce user-friendly documentation such as design specs, implementation guides, API docs and SDK content that will support customer system setup.
• Present content to internal customers, stakeholders, and leadership to gather feedback and drive continuous improvement
• Develop technical tutorials, documentation (e.g. user manuals, release notes, developer guide, SOP, training material, and online help) for internal and external audiences using video, graphics, and written media.
• Review, edit, and improve existing content to maintain clarity, consistency, accuracy, and compliance with documentation standards, creating new standards where needed.
• Collaborate with software engineers and product designers to capture and document for customer system configuration and user documentation.
• Define standards for representing data, insights dashboards, IT, OT, and IoT system visualizations as well as maintain a standard dictionary of terminology for consistent communication.
• Analyze content for reuse and maintain information architecture and documentation repositories
• Participate and support in project planning activities related to documentation deliverables
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
-High school diploma or higher with a minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing in software, IT, and/or engineering industries
-Minimum 3 years of experience using software platforms and templates across SharePoint, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Confluence, Jira, Adobe or similar tools
-No relocation is offered for this role.

Preferred Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as technical writing/communication, engineering, or computer science
-Minimum 5 years of technical writing experience, developing software, Software Development Lifecycle, software development environments, and technical platforms
-Professional certification, such as CPTC (Certified Professional Technical Communicator)
Skills:
-Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality content within a timely manner
-Attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Ability to assess risk and obstacles and continuously improve current processes for internal and external stakeholders
