Description

SAIC is seeking a Technical Writer for shipboard Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) major systems. This program will be part of a transformative venture, driving the future of next generation afloat mission effectiveness in response to evolving strategic and environmental demands. 

Job Duties: 

  • Provide Technical Writer support with the development and updates of C5ISR stage 4 and 5 test procedures, reports, briefs, proposals, instructional books, system operation manuals, maintenance manuals, Interactive Electronic Training Manuals (IETM), computer-based training (CBT) modules and related technical documents concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of shipboard C5ISR systems. 

  • Adhere to required quality control of test procedures in accordance with contract requirements and MIL STD 2106. 

  • Works with the cross functional team members to identify potential test procedure development improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the conduct of C5ISR tests.  
     

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:  

  • Bachelors degree with three (3) years or more relevant experience experience providing Technical Writer support for shipboard C5ISR test procedures, test reports, System Operational Verification Test (SOVT) procedures, system operation manuals (SOM), maintenance manuals, Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals, computer-based training modules and/or related technical documentation.; BS degree maybe offset with additional 4 years relevant experience. 

Required Security Clearance: 

  • No active secret required on first day of employment but must be able to obtain.

Desired Quals & Experience 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite 

  • Experience with IETM and CBT authoring tools such as Arobortext Editor, Adobe FrameMaker, S1000D Toolsets, Adobe Captive, Adobe Animate, SCORM, and/or Articulate Storyline. 

  • Familiar with content management and collaboration tools (such as Sharepoint, JIRA, GitHub, and/or Confluence) 

  • Proficient Soft Skills for engaging with individuals in person, on phone and in written mediums. 

Desired Experience providing Technical Writing support with on or move below C3ISR, C4ISR, C5ISR, and/or C6ISR Shipboard Systems: 

  • Integrated Bridge System 

  • Gyrocompass (e.g., WSN-7) 

  • Surface Search Radars (e.g., AN/SPY-6, SPS-series) 

  • UHF, HF, VHF Marine Radios 

  • Shipboard Communication Cabinets 

  • Shipboard Alarms and Interior Communications (Safety, Warning Systems) 

  • Fathometer and Depth Sounding Systems 

  • Global Positioning Systems (GPS) 

  • Sonar Mission System (SMS) 

  • Extremely High Frequency (EHF) Communications 

  • NIPRNET, SIPRNET, SI LAN
