Summary

The Electronic Security Systems (ESS) Training Lab Manager is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of a hands-on training facility supporting electronic security systems training. This role serves as the primary technical lead for the training lab, ensuring all access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, networking, server, and training systems remain fully operational and ready to support instruction. The ESS Training Lab Manager oversees laboratory operations, system administration, equipment lifecycle management, instructor support, and training resources to provide a realistic, mission-ready learning environment for students and technical


Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily operation, readiness, and maintenance of the ESS Training Lab and associated training systems.
  • Ensure all access control, intrusion detection, video management, networking, server, workstation, and integrated security platforms remain operational and available for training activities.
  • Perform or coordinate preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, upgrades, and equipment replacements.
  • Maintain software applications, operating systems, firmware, cybersecurity patches, system backups, and licensing requirements.
  • Administer user accounts, permissions, virtual environments, servers, workstations, and network devices.
  • Maintain laboratory configurations, inventory, network diagrams, equipment records, and technical documentation.
  • Support instructors by preparing lab environments, equipment, and practical exercises for course delivery.
  • Manage training schedules, resource planning, student records, and facility utilization requirements.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of lesson plans, training materials, troubleshooting scenarios, and lab exercises.
  • Coordinate with vendors, manufacturers, project personnel, and customer representatives to support training objectives and technology updates.
  • Maintain accountability for laboratory equipment, software licenses, tools, spare parts, and training assets.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to enhance training effectiveness and operational reliability.
  • Support budgeting, procurement, and lifecycle replacement planning for training systems and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Electronics Engineering Technology, Engineering, Security Management, or a related field. Equivalent military training, certifications, or directly related experience may be substituted.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience supporting electronic security systems, integrated security platforms, information technology, networking, or related technical environments.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience managing a laboratory, training facility, technical team, or complex integrated systems environment.
  • Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic security systems, servers, workstations, software applications, and network infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of systems administration, cybersecurity best practices, preventive maintenance, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Successfully pass background and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with LenelS2 OnGuard, Software House CCURE, Genetec Security Center, Milestone XProtect, Honeywell, Bosch, DMP, or similar security platforms.
  • Experience supporting DoD, federal, critical infrastructure, or high-security environments.
  • Industry certifications such as Security+, Network+, PMP, PSP, CISSP, CSEIP, or applicable manufacturer certifications.
  • Experience supporting technical training programs, instructors, curriculum development, or workforce development initiatives.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of electronic security systems, system integration, networking, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Ability to travel as needed for vendor training, manufacturer certification, customer support, or technical coordination.
  • Ability to maintain and administer complex laboratory environments consisting of hardware, software, and networked security systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining training lab readiness.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with technical staff, instructors, vendors, and customers.

Estimated Salary/Wage
USD $135,000.00/Yr. Up to USD $180,000.00/Yr.Qualifications:
