Job description

Location: Walnut Creek, CA

Estimated Pay: $60,000 – $70,000 per year

Job Type: Full-time

Company Overview:

Safe and Sound Security is California’s fastest growing commercial security integrator. We’re a commercial security systems and data cabling contractor. We’ve been serving businesses for 15 years with the most cutting edge security systems and low voltage contracting in the industry. With over 70% growth this last year, we’re adding a few core team members to help take on the extra workload.

What We Are Looking For:

We are seeking an experienced professional who is highly skilled in estimating for security system installations. The ideal candidate is a former technician with extensive knowledge of the various security systems available today.

This role requires expertise in determining cable paths, creating installation plans, and defining engineering scopes to provide the best plan for the installation team. As field surveyors are typically responsible for guiding the installation team through the job and explaining the scope of work, it’s crucial they have a solid understanding of the installers’ day-to-day responsibilities.

The field surveyor must also be able to effectively communicate the value of cloud-based security systems, service level agreements, and monitoring services. A key aspect of this role is explaining the benefits of the recurring revenue services we offer. A basic understanding of access control electrical theory, network engineering, and alarm system functions is essential.

This is not a sales position, and no selling is required. The field surveyor works with the engineering department to provide the scope and Bill of Materials for a project. The sales team then uses this information to prepare and present proposals to customers.

The perfect candidate will be comfortable balancing the responsibilities of being a road warrior with the ability to build estimates and site surveys and managing their time with day to day correspondence.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site surveys and develop estimates and scopes of work for security system installations.
  • Provide guidance to the installation team, ensuring they understand the project scope and plan.
  • Communicate the advantages of cloud-based security systems and related services to stakeholders.
  • Write detailed scopes of work and Bills of Materials.
  • Manage day-to-day correspondence and balance time between fieldwork and documentation.

Must-Haves:

  • Ability to balance the responsibilities of fieldwork with estimating and managing time effectively.
  • Strong writing skills, as this role involves creating detailed scopes and corresponding with the sales team and clients.
  • Highly organized and capable of meeting deadlines consistently.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years in the security/low voltage industry, ideally with a small to medium-sized business.
  • Basic knowledge of IT and facilities management.
  • Experience with SLED (State, Local Government, and Education/Schools) is a plus.
  • Construction experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based security systems is a plus.
  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and opportunities for professional development. Even if you don’t check off every box, we still encourage you to apply!

Benefits:

  • Full benefits (Health Insurance, Dental, Vision)
  • 401k (3% Match)
  • Take- Home Company Vehicle and Gas Card
  • 10 Days of Paid Vacation + 12 Holidays = 22 paid days off
  • Growth Potential
    • We’ve doubled our business year over year for the last 4 years and plan to 5X in the next 3 years. We’ll be adding multiple leaders in that time and we plan to promote from within.
