What is a security solution architect?

A Security Solution Architect is an IT professional responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing security systems and infrastructure within an organization. They analyze security requirements, develop security architectures, and ensure that solutions comply with industry standards and policies. Security Solution Architects collaborate with other teams to integrate security measures into new and existing technology projects, helping to protect data and systems from cyber threats. Their expertise is crucial in identifying vulnerabilities, evaluating risks, and recommending effective security technologies and practices.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a security solution architect?

To thrive as a Security Solution Architect, you need deep expertise in cybersecurity principles, network architecture, risk assessment, and typically a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with security frameworks (such as NIST or ISO 27001), cloud security platforms, and certifications like CISSP or CISM are highly valued. Strong communication, analytical thinking, and stakeholder management skills help you translate security requirements into robust technical solutions. These skills are crucial to designing effective security architectures that protect organizations against evolving threats while aligning with business objectives.

How does a security solution architect typically collaborate with other IT teams during the design and implementation of security solutions?

Security Solution Architects work closely with various IT teams, including network engineers, developers, and system administrators, to ensure that security requirements are integrated into every phase of a project. Collaboration often involves conducting risk assessments, reviewing architectural diagrams, and providing guidance on secure coding and infrastructure best practices. Regular meetings and workshops are common to align security objectives with business goals and technical constraints. Effective communication and cross-functional teamwork are essential for successfully designing and deploying robust security solutions.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned Enterprise Solution Architect to lead the design of scalable, secure, and high-performing technology solutions across full-stack applications, mobile platforms, cloud infrastructure, data ecosystems, and enterprise integrations. This role spans both internal business systems and market-facing digital products. The ideal candidate is a visionary who can also be hands‑on when needed. This individual should have deep experience across modern engineering stacks especially Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, .NET, C#, data platforms, and mobile development frameworks - and excel at guiding solution strategy across both packaged applications and custom‑built platforms.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Architect end-to-end enterprise solutions across applications, mobile, data, cloud, and integration domains.
  • Partner with product teams to conduct market research, competitive assessments, feasibility studies, and fit/gap analysis for internal solutions and customer-facing products.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to evaluate, select, and integrate packaged applications or develop custom platforms that deliver seamless and effective user experiences.
  • Work with product and engineering teams to define concepts, prototypes, technical designs, and solution roadmaps.
  • Define and enforce architectural standards and governance to ensure consistency, scalability, and alignment with enterprise IT policies.
  • Partner with data engineers to define and evolve the enterprise data strategy and architecture roadmap, enabling scalable and future‑ready platforms.
  • Guide software engineers in designing scalable full‑stack architecture using .NET Core, Azure services, API‑driven patterns, and modern front‑end frameworks.
  • Lead the architecture of secure, scalable, high‑performance mobile solutions with robust enterprise integration, authentication, optimized APIs, offline capability, and mobility management support.
  • Architect integration solutions using APIs, microservices, ETL/ELT, event‑driven patterns, and streaming technologies, ensuring interoperability across DMS, CRM, HRIS, and custom applications.
  • Develop architecture and frameworks to support AI and machine learning initiatives, including data preparation, model integration, and deployment pipelines.
  • Define cloud guardrails and best practices for performance, scalability, observability, security, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with cybersecurity, data privacy, and regulatory requirements across solutions.
  • Plan and execute data migration strategies from legacy systems to modern platforms, ensuring data integrity, minimal business disruption, and continuity.
  • Oversee vendor and software onboarding activities, ensuring all third‑party applications meet enterprise security, compliance, data privacy, and architectural standards before integration or deployment.
  • Design and guide CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools to support automated deployments, infrastructure provisioning, and environment management.
  • Establish best practices for application performance, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Participate in vendor evaluations, platform assessments, and technology‑selection decisions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in solution architecture.
  • Strong experience with Azure, C#, .NET, SQL Server, and Power Platform
  • Experience with modern data platforms (Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake or similar)
  • Mobile development experience (Xamarin, MAUI, React Native or similar)
  • Experience integrating ERP, CRM, HRIS, and other enterprise systems
  • Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines and IaC (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, /Terraform or similar)
  • Knowledge of DevOps, DevSecOps, cloud operational models, and platform engineering practices.
  • Proven experience working in Agile environments, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
