Job description

Summary

Security Officers provide an essential service to Silver Reef guests and other Departments, ensuring the safety of customer and employee property and assets, control of gaming devices, and the safe transfer of cash within the casino. Security Officers report to a Security Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency reading, writing, speaking and clear understanding of the English language.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basic math skills.
  • Intermediate typing and computer skills with MS Office and similar programs.
  • Able to successfully obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, CARE and AED certifications.
  • Criminal activity at or away from work may result in immediate termination.
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate well verbally and in writing is required.
  • 21 years of age, minimum.

EMT Certification Preferred

  • Able to take the lead in medical responses.
  • Must be able and willing to provide CPR, First Aid, AED and other more advanced medical service to guests and co-workers.
  • May need to assist, lift or move patients and may be exposed to bodily fluids, disease and offensive odors.

License Requirements

  • Class III Gaming License
  • Washington State Driver's License and qualify for Silver Reef approved drivers list.
  • To qualify for the EMT preference, a Security Officer must provide hard copy proof of EMT certification, at least bi-annually.

Essential Job Functions

  • Communicate clearly on 2-way radio with Dispatch, Security coworkers and other Silver Reef Departments.
  • Transport or provide escorts for funds and high value items and people.
  • Provide minor First Aid and CPR when required.
  • Have the ability to effectively deal with difficult, abusive or intoxicated guests or employees in a positive and non-confrontational manner.
  • Conduct table and electronic gaming device money collections (drops) throughout property during assigned shifts.
  • Observe and report suspicious activity to Dispatch, Security Supervisor and Surveillance in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ensure security and safety related activities throughout property.
  • Maintain Confidentiality.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Effectively communicate and work with Local Law Enforcement and Tribal Gaming Agency.
  • Maintain oneself as a credit to the Silver Reef Casino Security Department.
  • Perform other Security Department related duties as assigned by the Director of Security, Manager and Shift Supervisors.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Able to work shiftwork, 7 days a week, including national and religious holidays.
  • Able to work Overtime to cover shorthanded shifts and events.
  • The ability to display and demonstrate excellent judgment and common sense.
  • Able to multitasks while talking to guests and coworkers, listening to the radio and answering the phone.
  • Show interest and initiative in learning and understanding of the State and Tribal Compact, Internal Controls, and Company and Department policies.
  • Able to work for long periods (2 or more hours) of time while standing and walking.
  • Able to lift upwards of 50 lbs.
  • Able to work and tolerate areas containing secondary smoke, high noise levels, and bright lights.
  • Able to repetitively bend, stoop, reach, kneel, twist and grip items when necessary.
  • Able to deal and conform to inherent property changes.
  • Be able to effectively work and function under stressful situations.
  • Have the ability to adequately protect oneself from assault.
  • Excellent vision including peripheral.
  • Excellent hearing.
  • Able to accept constructive coaching from Supervisors and Training Officers.

Working Conditions

  • Constantly in noisy conditions that may be hot or cold.
  • Occasionally working outdoors, including in hot, cold, wet, or icy conditions.
  • Occasionally in contact with heavy tobacco smoke, offensive odors or other hazards, including biohazards.
