Job Title: Security Engineer II Location: Milford, DE Type: Direct Hire

Job Summary: System One is seeking a Security Engineer II for a permanent opportunity in Milford, DE. The Security Engineer will work Technology Services to managing escalated security incidents, monitoring security systems, and supporting the implementation of advanced security measures. This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability, performance, and security for all cloud-based infrastructure environments

Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementing and supporting security monitoring systems across cloud-based infrastructure environments.
  • Manage and investigate escalated security incidents, including malware detection, phishing attacks, and unauthorized access attempts.
  • Monitor security alerts using SIEM tools such as Splunk, QRadar, or Sentinel; analyze patterns and detect emerging threats.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration tests; collaborate on remediation and mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain security configurations for firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and other network devices.
  • Support compliance efforts by providing security data for audits related to GDPR, HIPAA, or ISO 27001 standards.
  • Develop and automate incident response workflows; assist in optimizing security processes.
  • Provide guidance and training to Level 1 analysts; collaborate with IT, DevOps, and cross-functional teams on security concerns.
  • Conduct forensic analysis on compromised systems to identify attack vectors and impact.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience in cybersecurity or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity roles, with at least 1-2 years in advanced or Level 2 positions.
  • Certifications preferred: CompTIA CySA+, GIAC (GSEC, GCIA, or GCIH), CISSP, or Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst.
  • Strong knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, EDR tools, vulnerability management, and SIEM platforms.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Understanding of networking protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills; ability to work effectively in team environments.
  • Ability to learn and support new technologies; demonstrate problem-solving skills with a sense of urgency.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
