Position Details
Under the direction of the Area Maintenance Supervisor, perform skilled locksmith work involved in the installation adjustment, repair and maintenance of various types of locks and lock hardware; provide lock security for District facilities and equipment.
Essential Functions - Typical Duties
Install, adjust and repair a variety of locks including padlocks, door locks, tumbler locks and combination locks.
Repair and maintain security devices including window and door locks; repair cylinders.
Maintain and upgrade lock security systems to comply with safety and fire regulations; maintain security of doors throughout the District.
Prepare routine records related to work performed and materials used. install and repair door closures and stops.
Alter or repair wood structures including school and office furniture, as needed to install locks.
Assure proper care of tools and equipment.
Open locked doors and cabinets when keys are lost or locks are broken.
Provide security locks and make keys for master key systems for doors, cabinets, gates, desks, lockers and other items.
Establish and implement locksmith and District keying systems security provisions and appropriate shop safety policies and procedures.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and four years of semiskilled to skilled level work in the locksmith trade.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California Class 3 driver's license.
• Health and Welfare Plan for employees and eligible dependents. Plan includes District/Employee paid premium for health, dental, and vision.
• Paid Vacation: Vacation is prorated based on months worked per year and longevity with the District.
• Holidays: 16 days paid per fiscal year
