Job description

Overview
The Armed Security Guard is responsible for providing protective security services at a U.S. Government facility. This position ensures the safety and security of personnel, property, and government assets through enforcement of security procedures, access control, patrol operations, and adherence to all applicable policies, regulations, and post orders. The guard must maintain a high level of professionalism, situational awareness, and readiness to respond to security incidents or emergencies.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in Guard Mount while wearing the assigned uniform and carrying the issued weapon; receive daily post assignments and copy any supplementary or special instructions.
  • Execute all general and special orders for the assigned post, conducting roving patrols to prevent installation breaches and performing OPSEC-related or other security tasks as required.
  • Communicate effectively via radio, telephone, and verbal communication, following established protocols and post orders.
  • Interact professionally with the public, government personnel, visitors, and authorized contractors, providing escort services when required.
  • Perform access control, traffic control, and both walking and motorized armed security operations in accordance with post requirements.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and serviceability of assigned uniform, duty gear, and equipment at all times.
  • Follow all standard operating procedures and government regulations governing the safeguarding of weapons, personnel, buildings, government property, and sensitive equipment.
  • Conduct personnel, vehicle, building, and facility checks, and perform package and parcel inspections in accordance with established procedures.
  • Work flexible schedules, including weekends, holidays, and varying shifts, based on operational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support security operations and mission requirements.

Qualifications
  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Speak, read, comprehend, and compose coherent verbal and written reports in English.
  • Have an approved Social Security Card issued by the Social Security Administration.
  • Must have an Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
  • Shall not be in violation of the Lautenberg Amendment at 18 U.S.C. 922
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a Valid NC driver's license and able to operate SUV style vehicles.
  • Minimum of one year experience preferably with a civilian police force, military police force, or civilian security guard organization.
  • Possess a current CPR certification through the American Red Cross.
  • Successfully be able to meet PAT physical agility standards as set forth by US Army
