Security Guard Position

Eastside Preparatory School (EPS) is seeking a dedicated and professional Security Guard to support our mission: to guide students to think critically, act responsibly, lead compassionately, and innovate wisely. Under general supervision, the Security Guard serves as the primary gatekeeper for campus visitors. This role demands professionalism, effective communication, and proactive engagement. Guards are expected to carry the EPS security cell phone and always be accessible during their shift. The position is physically active, requiring significant time outdoors and consistent campus monitoring. This position reports to the Director of Operations and works in close coordination with the Facilities and Administrative teams to ensure campus safety.

Night hours: 3:00p-11:30 pm

Responsibilities:

  • Uphold a well-groomed, tidy, and respectful appearance
  • Maintain possession of and respond promptly via EPS-issued campus cell phone during shift hours
  • Remain outdoors approximately 80% of each shift
  • Patrol campus and observe for unusual activity (e.g., loitering, inebriation, unauthorized visitors)
  • Vary patrol routes and timing to avoid routine patterns
  • Greet visitors courteously and maintain appropriate eye contact
  • Strategically position oneself for clear visibility of internal walkways and high-traffic areas
  • Assist with traffic and pedestrian flow as needed
  • Evening guard responsibilities include checking and securing exterior doors and windows after 3:30 p.m.
  • Accurately document and submit incident reports
  • Participate in ongoing training and adapt to evolving security needs and best practices
  • Demonstrate accountability, honesty, and a growth-oriented mindset
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations, including fire alarms, security incidents, medical incidents, or natural disasters, in alignment with EPS emergency procedures.

  • Operate basic security tools, including radios, campus access control systems, and surveillance cameras, as part of daily monitoring and incident response procedures.

Credentials and Experience:

  • Previous experience in a school or student-centered environment preferred
  • Valid Washington State driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and fingerprinting, in accordance with Washington state regulations for school personnel.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification preferred. Candidates without certification must be willing to obtain it upon hire. Additional training in de-escalation techniques or campus safety is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours in alignment with school needs

Compensation:

Hourly pay $24-$28 per hour.
