Unarmed Security Guard Night Shift
Nashville, TN 37214
Work Location: Onsite
Shift: 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM
Schedule: 5 days per week, weekends included
Openings: 3
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for institutional and related security work of average difficulty and performs related work as required. This is the entry level working class in the security guard subseries. An employee in this class may be assigned to work any shift while providing a full range of institutional and other security activities, such as the protection of public buildings.
Responsibilities
  • Performs various security activities, such as patrolling facilities, monitoring alarms and security systems, checking safety hazards, and identifying violations of laws and rules.
  • Operates security equipment, including two-way radios, communication devices, patrol vehicles, and other transportation vehicles.
  • Controls the entrance and exit of individuals by verifying identity, purpose of visit, and authorization.
  • Escorts individuals as needed to ensure their safety.
  • Responds to calls and takes appropriate action to assist in emergency situations.
  • Searches for and apprehends missing or unauthorized individuals.
  • Reports security concerns to supervisors.
  • Communicates with law enforcement agencies to exchange information and request assistance.
  • Prepares and maintains incident reports, vehicle citations, visitor logs, and personal property reports.
Education & Experience
  • Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school is required.
  • Qualifying full-time law enforcement, security, or related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
