Job description

Job Summary

The Security Associate greets, welcomes and assists patients, visitors, employees and guests to Women & Infants Hospital.  The incumbent will also escort patients, visitors and guests about the hospital or campus, providing direction as needed or requested. Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills when handling situations with staff, patients and guests of the hospital. Assists with the notification of patient discharges using the teletracking system. Must maintain a professional image and discretion when performing job duties.  May perform other related receptionist and clerical duties as assigned or directed.

Duties & Responsibilities

Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills when dealing with employees or the public.Organizes workload and uses initiative when performing job duties, completing tasks with limited supervision within the guidelines of departmental policy.Acts as key initial contact and for patients, families, employees, and visitors entering the Hospital.Assists Nursing in patient discharge by utilizing the teletracking discharge system.Supports and assists nursing in effectively monitoring siblings, who may have wandered away from their parents to other hospital locations.Demonstrates a commitment to Service Excellence.Performs other job-related duties as required or requested.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.  Proficiency in the English language required; fluency in Spanish desirable. Strong interpersonal skills necessary. Bilingual strongly preferred.  If hired after 1/1/2010 then must have familiarity with computer programs.
