Security Account Executive

At Johnson Controls, you will help customers protect people, places, and assets through Johnson Controls Security services and technology. In this role, you will represent the Johnson Controls Security brand in your territory, build trusted customer relationships, and drive profitable growth through new business, account expansion, and long-term retention.


Role Overview

The Commercial Account Executive is responsible for promoting and selling Johnson Controls Security services and technology within an assigned territory. You will develop new commercial business, expand opportunities within existing accounts, and support customer retention through follow-up, renewals, and a strong understanding of our product and service offering. Success in this role requires a consultative sales approach, strong territory management, and the ability to clearly communicate the value of Johnson Controls Security solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Promote and sell Johnson Controls Security services and technology within an assigned territory.

  • Create new market share by selling to new local commercial customers.

  • Expand existing accounts by selling additional products and services.

  • Sell add-ons, amendments, and conversions to align customer systems with expectations.

  • Renew existing customer agreements and support resale opportunities.

  • Identify prospects using creative lead-generation techniques and maintain productive relationships with customers.

  • Establish call plans, follow-up strategies, and effective territory management practices.

  • Obtain referrals and work with Centers of Influence to build pipeline opportunities.

  • Process work orders and complete required paperwork in accordance with approved procedures.

  • Conduct post-installation follow-up to confirm commitments were met and customer satisfaction remains strong.

  • Adhere to Johnson Controls Security policies, procedures, products, programs, and services with care and consistency.

  • Own your results by managing your territory with accountability, accuracy, and attention to customer needs.

  • Stay close to the work by understanding local market opportunities, customer priorities, and the issues that influence buying decisions.

  • Use disciplined call planning, timely follow-up, and strong time management to move opportunities forward.

  • Build trust through clear communication, thoughtful presentations, and a consultative approach with both customers and internal partners.

  • Improve every day by staying current on the full product and service portfolio through training, reading, and research.

  • Work collaboratively with customers, Centers of Influence, and Johnson Controls Security teams to remove obstacles and support successful outcomes.

  • Complete documentation, work orders, and post-installation follow-ups thoroughly to reinforce satisfaction and retention.


Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent.

  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to present to senior-level executives within customer and Johnson Controls Security organizations.

  • Ability to work a full-time schedule.

  • Availability for local travel.

  • Minimum of 2 years of successful commercial sales experience in the security, IT, or other technology sales industry, demonstrated by a consistent ability to meet and exceed quota.

  • College degree.

  • Experience developing new commercial accounts in a territory-based sales environment.

  • Strong background in renewals, account expansion, and customer retention.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $50,000-$70,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.) This role offers a competitive Bonus plan that will take into account individual, group,and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
