SeaView Community Services is seeking an engaging, creative, and community-minded Director of Community Outreach to strengthen connections between our behavioral health services and the people, organizations, and communities we serve.

The Director of Community Outreach will lead SeaView's community engagement, referral development, public education, and external communications efforts. This position will build lasting relationships with community partners, improve pathways into care, and help ensure that individuals and families understand how to access SeaView's services.

The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator and relationship-builder who believes in the importance of accessible behavioral health care and can represent SeaView with warmth, professionalism, and credibility.

SeaView Community Services is a nonprofit behavioral health organization that has served Seward and surrounding communities since 1972. We provide a continuum of mental health, substance use, recovery, residential, outpatient, crisis, psychiatric, and community-based services.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, healthcare providers, schools, courts, social service agencies, tribal organizations, first responders, employers, state agencies, nonprofit organizations, and other community partners.
• Conduct regular outreach to local and statewide referral partners.
• Schedule and participate in meetings, presentations, site visits, community events, health fairs, and informational booths.
• Coordinate visits to SeaView from referral partners, funders, state representatives, and other stakeholders from across Alaska.
• Represent SeaView at community meetings, coalitions, conferences, and collaborative initiatives.
• Identify new partnership opportunities that expand access to behavioral health services and support community wellness.
• Develop and strengthen partnerships with local schools to improve awareness, early connection to services, and coordination of behavioral health support for children and families.

• Work closely with the Director of Admissions to improve referral pathways and make it easier for individuals, families, and partners to connect with SeaView's services.
• Educate referral partners about SeaView's programs, eligibility requirements, admissions processes, and available levels of care.
• Help partners identify the most appropriate SeaView program or service for the individuals they support.
• Identify barriers to referrals, admissions, and care coordination and collaborate with internal and external partners to develop practical solutions.
• Maintain regular communication with high-volume and priority referral sources.
• Support continuity of care by strengthening communication between SeaView programs and external providers.
• Gather feedback from referral partners and share opportunities for improvement with SeaView's leadership and program teams.

• Develop and deliver presentations about SeaView's services, behavioral health needs, available community resources, and pathways to care.
• Help community members understand when and how to seek behavioral health support.
• Create outreach initiatives that reduce stigma related to mental health, substance use, and accessing behavioral health services.
• Promote messages of recovery, hope, inclusion, and early intervention.
• Ensure public-facing communications are respectful, accessible, trauma-informed, and consistent with SeaView's mission and values.
• Respond to community questions and help connect individuals with the appropriate SeaView department or resource.

• Manage SeaView's social media presence and create timely, engaging, and mission-aligned content.
• Maintain accurate and current information on SeaView's website.
• Manage SeaView's Google Business Profile and other relevant online listings.
• Develop promotional materials, community announcements, program information, digital content, and advertising campaigns.
• Coordinate paid and unpaid advertising across appropriate print, radio, digital, and community channels.
• Promote SeaView programs, events, employment opportunities, community partnerships, and organizational accomplishments.
• Work with staff and community partners to identify appropriate stories and information that demonstrate SeaView's community impact.
• Monitor online engagement, community feedback, and the effectiveness of outreach and advertising activities.
• Maintain consistent branding, messaging, and visual presentation across public-facing platforms and materials.

• Develop and maintain an annual community outreach and communications plan aligned with SeaView's strategic priorities.
• Establish measurable goals for partner engagement, referral development, community education, website activity, social media engagement, and advertising performance.
• Track outreach activities, partner contacts, presentations, events, referral trends, and follow-up needs.
• Use referral and engagement data to identify underserved populations, service gaps, and opportunities for growth.
• Provide regular updates to leadership regarding outreach activities, emerging community needs, partnership opportunities, and results.
• Manage the community outreach and advertising budget within approved guidelines.
• Collaborate across departments to ensure outreach efforts accurately reflect current services, capacity, eligibility, and organizational priorities.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between strategic planning and hands-on community engagement. This person should enjoy meeting new people, presenting to groups, creating engaging content, and following through on the details needed to turn relationships into effective partnerships.

• Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, social services, behavioral health, public health, business, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
• Experience in community outreach, partnership development, marketing, communications, public relations, admissions, healthcare, behavioral health, or nonprofit services.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive professional relationships.
• Strong public speaking, presentation, writing, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience managing social media, websites, online business listings, digital content, or advertising campaigns.
• Ability to explain programs and processes clearly to a wide range of audiences.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, events, relationships, and deadlines.
• Ability to work collaboratively while also taking initiative and working independently.
• Familiarity with behavioral health services, healthcare referral systems, rural communities, or Alaska's service delivery system is strongly preferred.
• Commitment to reducing stigma and improving equitable access to behavioral health care.
• Proficiency with standard office technology and the ability to learn website, social media, design, and data-tracking platforms.
• Valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and ability to travel locally and occasionally within Alaska.
