Network Engineer (Cisco | Zero Trust | NIST)

Join a team focused on building resilient, secure network infrastructure using modern Zero Trust and NIST-aligned practices.

Hybrid role with remote flexibility; occasional on-site support in Washington, DC.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Full-time (after-hours/weekend work as needed)
  • Active Security Clearance: Must be eligible for and successfully pass a Public Trust Tier 2 background check and fingerprinting
  • Environment: Hybrid ( occasional onsite work Greater DC area
  • Key Info: 24/7 operations, strict change control, security-driven environment

Job Duties

  • Engineer and support Cisco network infrastructure aligned with NIST standards
  • Implement Zero Trust controls, segmentation, and secure access policies
  • Manage network security (802.1X, SIEM logging, device hardening)
  • Troubleshoot, monitor performance, and support incident response
  • Maintain network documentation, diagrams, and configuration baselines

Job Requirements

  • 8+ years of IT/networking experience (6+ in engineering roles)
  • Strong Cisco networking expertise (routing, switching, security)
  • Experience with NIST frameworks and Zero Trust principles
  • Background in secure environments with change control and compliance
  • Professional-level certifications (Cisco or equivalent) required
  • Active Security Clearance: Must be eligible for and successfully pass a Public Trust Tier 2 background check and fingerprinting process conducted through the U.S. Capitol Police.
