Summary
About the Position: This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

  • Direct the Center's comprehensive housekeeping, custodial, and environmental sanitation program.
  • Oversee the collection, handling, and removal of regulated, hazardous, and specialized waste.
  • Serve as the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) to provide quality assurance for facility support contracts.
  • Supervise personnel in assessing contractor performance to ensure strict compliance with environmental, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Advise leadership on program operations, budget formulation, and resource requirements.

  • This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.

Qualifications
Who May Apply: US Citizens
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with the planning, development, or evaluation of a comprehensive housekeeping, custodial, or environmental sanitation program within a large-scale institutional, commercial, or healthcare facility; assisting with the management of a program for the collection, handling, and removal of regulated, hazardous, or specialized waste; assisting with quality assurance for facility support contacts (such as custodial, grounds, pest control, or snow removal); ensuring strict compliance with environmental, safety, or sanitation regulations; and assisting with resource management and budget formulation. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
