THE POSITION
Join the Department of Human Services as a Clerical Assistant 2 and support the Beaver County Assistance Office in delivering important services to the community. This role allows you to help clients receive timely assistance through steady and reliable office work. Your attention to detail will make daily operations smoother for both staff and visitors. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position provides clerical support that helps the LIHEAP program operate efficiently and accurately. It supports caseworkers, supervisors and clients by ensuring that applications, communication and daily office tasks are completed with care. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
  • Front Desk Support: Greet visitors, review applications for accuracy and provide information based on LIHEAP procedures
  • Application Handling: Distribute cash and Crisis Applications, assist workers and ensure mail applications are complete
  • Record Management: Perform file clearances, scan documents and check fax submissions for LIHEAP materials
  • Call Processing: Transfer incoming calls to the correct staff and assist clients with questions
  • Mail Coordination: Manage incoming and outgoing mail to ensure timely processing
  • Office Assistance: Operate office equipment and complete general clerical duties as needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time, seasonal employment, 37.5 hours per week.
    • This is a full time, seasonal position that typically runs for 6-8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch. .
  • Work Conditions: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
  • Telework: This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Rochester, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly rate of $18.83 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Beaver County. If no eligible candidates who live within Beaver County apply for this position candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
