Job Summary: Senior OpenShift Virtualization Administrator (Systems Administrator IV)
Location: Anacostia, Washington, DC (Hybrid - On-site with Government Customer, Telework as Approved)
Clearance Required: Public Trust (must be active prior to start)
About the Role
Join a dynamic team delivering critical digital modernization initiatives as a Senior OpenShift Virtualization Administrator. Shape the future of large-scale IT infrastructure by deploying, configuring, and optimizing OpenShift environments at a government site in Washington, DC. This hybrid position offers a blend of on-site collaboration and flexible telework (with prior approval), providing both stability and work-life balance. Step into a senior technical leadership role, drive high-impact projects, and contribute directly to national digital transformation.
Responsibilities
- Lead administration, installation, configuration, and maintenance of OpenShift Virtualization environments and associated systems hardware.
- Manage the full lifecycle of physical and virtual systems, including system tuning, storage allocation, critical patch implementation, and performance monitoring.
- Execute robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Identify, design, and implement solutions to complex technical challenges impacting multiple disciplines.
- Analyze system logs, troubleshoot anomalies, and proactively optimize system performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional internal teams, clients, vendors, and government stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Influence project direction by applying advanced technical expertise and innovative problem-solving.
- Ensure compliance with security policies and support additional background check processes as needed.
Required Skills and Experience
- Expert-level knowledge in OpenShift Virtualization administration.
- Extensive experience (8-12 years with BS; 6-10 years with MS) in systems administration, virtualization, and enterprise IT infrastructure.
- Advanced proficiency in Linux system administration, virtualization technologies, and associated hardware.
- Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale technical projects and deliver results in complex environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- U.S. citizenship and active Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting federal or government IT environments.
- Master's or Doctorate in a technical field.
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud deployments and automation tools.
- Exposure to DevOps methodologies.
