Job description

The JCC Ranch Camp is not just the Denver JCC’s overnight summer camp, it’s also one of the best places to work during the summer. As a staff member, Ranch Camp will become your home away from home as you work to create a community where people can thrive. You’re a hero to your campers; you have the chance to do something you really care about and have a whole lot of fun doing it. Your experience as a staff member is just as important to us as our campers’ experience. That being said: We’re here to serve kids and make sure they are in the safest environment possible while having the time of their lives.

The Kitchen and Operations team at JCC Ranch Camp is essential to the camp experience, ensuring campers and staff receive nourishing meals in a safe and inclusive environment. As a member of the Kitchen and Operations Staff, you’ll assist with food preparation, maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas, and uphold kosher and allergen management practices. Additionally, you will support camp operations by assisting with camper laundry and light housekeeping tasks, ensuring a clean and welcoming environment throughout camp. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in both kitchen and operations while being part of a vibrant summer camp community.

All our staff work in tandem with Camp’s Supervisory Team to ensure the positive resolution of all potential issues and challenges that might come up with regard to the kitchen, food preparation, housekeeping, laundry, and personnel.

Finally, all staff must be able to attend Staff Orientations and be available to live at camp, or be available for full-time kitchen coverage, for the summer season from mid-May to mid-August. This role has the flexibility to work in our shoulder seasons as well in late-April, May, August, September, and October.

This is a seasonal position with an expected end date of mid-August, with the option to work through October.

Kitchen and Operations Staff Responsibilities:

Food Preparation and Kitchen Support

  • Assist with Meal Prep: Help with washing, peeling, chopping, and organizing ingredients for meals and snacks, working under the direction of the Head Chef and Sous Chef.
  • Dining Hall Setup: Prepare the dining hall before each meal by setting up tables, dishes, cutlery, napkins, condiment stations, and beverage areas.
  • Dishwashing & Equipment Cleaning: Clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, maintaining high cleanliness standards per health regulations.
  • Kosher & Allergen Compliance: Follow camp policies on kosher preparation and allergen separation, ensuring safe food handling and serving practices.

Laundry & Housekeeping Support

  • Laundry Services: Wash, dry, and fold camper laundry, camp linens, and other washable items. Ensure all laundry is returned to campers in their designated bags and is neatly organized.
  • Laundry Room Maintenance: Keep the laundry room clean, organized, and stocked. Monitor inventory of laundry supplies and report to the Facilities or Director team when supplies need replenishing.
  • Dining Hall & Bathroom Stocking: Ensure bathrooms and hand washing stations in the dining hall are stocked with essential supplies (toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towels) and maintain general cleanliness throughout the day.
  • Safety & Hazard Reporting: Identify and report any hazards or potentially dangerous situations in the laundry and camp areas to the Facilities or Director team.
  • And other duties and responsibilities as assigned: you might help to make campers’ dreams of a beach themed ice-cream campfire song session come true or become your favorite legendary Pokémon for an evening program.
