Description
Water Taxi, the company that operates boats on the Bricktown Canal, is now hiring ticket sellers for the 2021 season. This is a great opportunity to work in a fun environment with entertaining and positive co-workers. FT/PT positions available.
We provide comprehensive boat driving training and also in-depth tour training with an ongoing educational focus. Your success is our success, and we work our tails off to make you successful.
PLEASE NOTE: we have had an excellent safety record throughout the current pandemic, and have made many changes and improvements to our operation specifically designed to keep our crew and customers safe.
Although this job is seasonal, the employment season typically runs well into late Fall. Available evening and weekend shifts for those with other employment. Customer service/cash handling experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities
Water Taxi tour guides are the visitor's guide to not only the Bricktown Canal but to the city of Oklahoma City by extension (we refer to them as Ambassadors).
Our tour guides receive training on and are responsible for:
  • Greeting passengers and other members of the public at our main dock/boarding area or other locations as assigned
  • Giving knowledgeable directions to passengers and other visitors to Bricktown
  • Checking customers in using our ticketing app
  • Safely boarding passengers for scheduled tours
  • Safely driving the boat on the Bricktown Canal, utilizing radios to communicate with other tour guides on and off the water (don't worry; we will train you for this part! No boat driving experience required!)
  • Giving informative, entertaining tours while underway, detailing OKC and Oklahoma History, with a strong focus on positively representing our city and our state
Occasionally they may also serve a fill-in role at our ticket booth or another customer service location, where they would also be responsible for:
  • Answering incoming telephone calls and either providing answers or properly re-routing calls to the appropriate party
  • Responding to incoming online inquiries via our messaging application
  • Properly making bookings through our computerized point of sale system
  • Taking cash and credit card payments
  • Rebooking passengers as directed by management or by policy

Skills Knowledge and Expertise
To work as a reservationist/ticket seller for Water Taxi you MUST:
  • Be 18 or older
  • Maintain a professional, neat appearance
  • Treat others - including your customers and co-workers - with dignity and respect
  • Hold high ethical standards
  • Have an upbeat attitude
  • Have an outgoing personality
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Have a reasonable amount of computer literacy
  • Be a punctual person
  • Have clean criminal record (we DO check)
  • Be able to pass a drug test...by Oklahoma law this job is considered to be safety-sensitive due to its nature, which includes transporting the public on a motorized conveyance.
It's a real plus if you:
  • Have experience in the performing arts
  • Have retail customer service and/or hospitality experience
