Job description

We are seeking a Shop Manager to oversee daily shop operations for our growing fence manufacturing and installation business. We manufacture galvanized fence gates and support commercial fence installation teams. We're looking for a hands-on leader who can manage shop activities, equipment, inventory, and production while supporting our field crews.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily shop operations and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Fabrication of fence gates, posts, and components, including MIG welding, cutting, and grinding
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, and material deliveries
  • Receive, inspect, label, and organize incoming materials
  • Track inventory and notify the office when stock needs replenishment
  • Maintain and monitor company vehicles, trailers, forklifts, tools, and equipment
  • Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime
  • Coordinate daily staging and dispatch of trucks and trailers for 3 to 4 installation crews
  • Hook up trailers to work trucks and ensure all vehicles are properly equipped for the day's scheduled work
  • Prepare, load, and verify that each crew has the materials, tools, equipment, and supplies needed to complete their assigned jobs
  • Maintain accurate records of materials, tools, and equipment assigned to each truck and trailer to ensure accountability and inventory control
  • Prepare materials, load sheets, and equipment for field installation crews
  • Supervise shop personnel and assign daily tasks
  • Keep accurate records of inventory, deliveries, maintenance, and shop activities
  • Support field crews by phone with equipment, material, and troubleshooting needs


Qualifications

  • Experience with MIG welding, metal fabrication, or manufacturing operations
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or shop management experience preferred
  • Skidsteer and Telehandler experience preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with equipment maintenance
  • Strong organizational and inventory management skills
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Valid driver's license required - CDL Class A preferred

Schedule

  • Full-time, Monday through Friday
  • Early morning start times
  • Seasonal hours vary based on workload
  • Occasional Saturday work as needed
