Job description

EDUCATION COORDINATOR - SEASONAL

 

Location:

Charleston Corps – Charleston, South Carolina

 

Position Type: 

Temporary Full-Time

 

Pay Rate: 

$18.87/hour

 

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:

Directly accountable to the Executive Director and Program Coordinator for the overall program of The Community Center which includes; planning and implementing education programs and working with volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Coordinates the education program and provides quality and effective services to participants in order to strive towards the vision, mission and goal of The Salvation Army Community Center.
  • Plans programs for the Education Department, subject to the approval of the Executive Director.
  • Assists in recruiting and training staff and volunteers.
  • Promotes and stimulates membership in the department and organizes reading incentive programs and reading motivation.
  • Makes monthly statistical reports to the Executive Director.
  • Works with Satellite Center of The Salvation Army Community Center After School Program.
Other Responsibilities:

 

  • Evaluate the program of the department.
  • Makes initial visits to all schools represented at The Salvation Army Community Center
  • Works up a program for individual students with specific needs.
  • Present the program to each teacher.
  • Trains helpers in tutoring skills.
  • Checks up on students and helpers on a regular basis and makes necessary adjustments.
  • Records and maintains data regarding school academics, behaviors, and attendance.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree required in Business, Marketing, Social Sciences or Education or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Physical Requirements:

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.

Working Conditions:

 

Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor recreation environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
