Seasonal Camp Lifeguard

Position Type: Seasonal 


Reports To: Camp Director 

Salary: $19.00 / Hour


Position Summary

The Seasonal Camp Lifeguard plays a critical role in ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging aquatic environment for campers of all abilities. This position is responsible for monitoring pool activities, enforcing safety regulations, and providing support to individuals with physical and developmental disabilities to ensure a positive and enjoyable camp experience.

About the Role

Are you alert, responsible, and ready to lead with confidence? As a Camp Lifeguard, you'll ensure a safe and fun aquatic experience for campers of all abilities.

You'll play a critical role in safety while helping campers enjoy the water in an inclusive, supportive environment.


What You'll Do

 Ensure Water Safety

  • Monitor swimmers and maintain constant surveillance
  • Enforce all pool safety rules and procedures
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies

 Support Inclusive Participation

  • Assist campers with entering/exiting the pool safely
  • Adapt support for individuals with varying abilities
  • Encourage participation and build confidence in the water

 Maintain Aquatic Areas

  • Conduct safety checks of pool and equipment
  • Keep the pool area clean, organized, and hazard-free
  • Report any concerns immediately

 Collaborate with Staff

  • Work closely with counselors and program leaders
  • Communicate clearly about camper needs and safety
  • Participate in trainings and team meetings

 What You Bring

Required:

  • Current Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross or equivalent)
  • CPR/AED and First Aid Certification
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to remain alert

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Previous camp or aquatic experience

 Physical Requirements
  • Strong swimming ability and rescue skills
  • Ability to remain alert for extended periods
  • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
