Job description

JOB SUMMARY
The Food amp; Beverage Supervisor is responsible for the daily supervision and hands-on support of our 8 food amp; beverage venues. From jumping on the grill during a lunch rush to delivering products replenishing our stock, every day is different. Supervisors ensure our daily operations go off without a hitch by performing venue rounds and problem solving in the moment to fill gaps where needed. You will serve at the heart of the food service operation by providing support, training, guidance, and be a main point of communication for our team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure food service venues are operating according to standards, including opening and closing venues on time, labor control, and control over cost of goods sold. 
  • Be a hands-on supervisor at all times specializing in customer service, cash handling policies, and food safety standards. 
  • Train the trainers on John Ball Zoo policies and procedures and continuously provide feedback and guidance to Food Service Team Leads. 
  • Enforce standards for food preparation and service, including food quality, standardized recipes and portion size, with emphasis on appeal, flavor, efficient preparation, customer service and sanitary conditions. 
  • Responsible for supervision of up to 50 people daily. 
  • Assist with inventory control over food, supplies, and equipment. 
  • Assure compliance with the Kent County Health Department in all venues across the food service department. 
  • Enforce procedures for properly receiving, storing, and distributing food and supplies. 
  • Assist management in disciplinary action of employees including attendance tracking and employee performance issues. 
  • Assist employees with dissatisfied customers by offering customer-minded solutions when issues arise. 
  • Administer all policies and procedures of John Ball Zoo. 
  • Provide continuous training for all food service employees in customer service, food preparation, sanitation, money handling, and company policies. 
  • Perform any other duties requested by management that are in the best interest of the zoo. 
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Will work in various environments both inside and outside and may occasionally be exposed to inclement weather, temperature and air quality variations.
  • While performing the essential functions of this position the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical hazards; noxious fumes; blood borne pathogens; cleaning compounds; solvents; detergents; noise; and other hazards.
  • Heat exposure near fryers, grills, and ovens
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Must be able to navigate entire zoo grounds to access workstations.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and exchange information accurately.
  • Must be able to push, pull, raise and/or lower food amp; beverage ingredients. supplies, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Tasks may involve lifting above shoulder height or bending to reach low shelves.
  • Chopping, stirring, assembling meals, and packaging orders require continuous hand and arm movement.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position, perform frequent movements, and/or remain mobile for several hours during a 6–8-hour shift.
  • Must move quickly and efficiently during peak hours
WHAT WE REQUIRE
  • Must be 18+ in order to apply  
  • Must be able to work at least 30 hours per week
  • Prior experience in Food amp; Beverage
  • Knowledge of food safety protocols, cleaning procedures, and cross-contamination prevention
  • Must be available to work weekends and evenings if required
