POSITION SUMMARY

The Seasonal Merchandiser is responsible for caring for garden plants and maintaining in-store displays during the sales season. This position supports product presentation, plant care, and customer service at assigned retail locations.

This is a seasonal, hourly position. The length of the assignment and weekly schedule may vary based on business needs, store volume, route assignments, and employee availability. The Station Manager and Area Sales Team will work with employees to coordinate store routes and schedules. Employees may service various store locations per day and must have reliable transportation to travel between assigned locations.

SCHEDULE

Start times and schedules may vary depending on business needs, seasonality, store requirements, and route assignments. Daily hours are not guaranteed and may vary from shorter shifts to full workdays. Weekend availability is required during peak spring gardening periods. All scheduling and hours worked will be managed in accordance with applicable law.

RESPONSIBILITIES• Organize, maintain, and present plant displays in assigned retail locations.
• Inspect product quality and remove plants that do not meet company standards.
• Restock and rotate fresh product as needed.
• Water and care for plants to help maintain product quality and appearance.
• Push and pull rolling carts and move cull carts to designated areas.
• Utilize technology tools and retail sales apps (e.g. Go-Spot-Check and handheld scan device) to document (real-time) retail store set up, plant quality and display conditions at each store location.
• Provide courteous assistance to customers with general plant-related questions.
• Communicate with management using a smartphone or other approved communication method.
• Demonstrate punctuality, dependability, professionalism, and attention to detail.
• Training will be provided on standard procedures, product quality expectations, and plant care. Prior gardening or merchandising experience is helpful but not required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

The essential functions of this position require frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, and the regular lifting, pushing, or pulling of merchandise and carts. The position may require moving items weighing up to 50 pounds. Work is performed in retail garden center environments and may involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, and rain.
