Job description

Are you ready to get on the water with Freedom Boat Club?

We are Washington State's largest members-only boat club, operating 10+ locations across the Puget Sound and Lake Washington. This is an early-career role built for people who want to grow — no marine experience required (though would be beneficial, and recognized), just the right attitude and a willingness to learn. You'll work alongside experienced technicians, build real hands-on skills across a 200-boat fleet, and have a clear path forward as your capabilities develop.

Position Summary

This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position with some seasonal overtime as needed.

During the summer season, you'll perform preventative maintenance on club boats — including at our locations — and support the field service team with repairs and upkeep as needed. In the off-season, you'll be based out of our Tacoma shop working on refurbishment projects, equipment maintenance, and preparing the fleet for the season ahead.

What You'll Do
  • Perform preventative maintenance — oil changes, fluid checks, filter and parts replacement, etc
  • Install and troubleshoot gauges, horns, lights, and stereos
  • Assist with diagnosing mechanical issues on boats and engines
  • Perform detailing work — buffing, sanding, polishing, and bottom painting
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop environment
  • Support field technicians during peak season at our locations
  • Tow and transport trailers and boats across Washington
  • Operate a forklift within the shop environment (training provided)

Requirements
  • Must be 21 or older — required for insurance and vehicle operation purposes
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work
  • Self-directed and comfortable working independently
  • Calm and positive attitude during periods of high activity
  • Clear, professional communication skills
  • Personal mobile device for team apps (Slack, ADP, etc.)

Where This Role Can Take You

We promote from within. The Marine Service Associate is the starting point of a clear career ladder:

Marine Service Associate → Marine Field/Service Technician Advanced technical and leadership roles

We invest in the people who show up ready to learn.

Our Values

As a Freedom Boat Club employee, we'll rely on you to reflect our core values — these aren't words on a wall; they're how we show up for our members and each other every day.

  • Great Attitude
  • Excellence
  • Teamwork
  • Remarkable Service
  • Trustworthy

Why Freedom Boat Club?
  • Employee boating privileges: After your probationary period, enjoy access to our fleet for personal use — the same boats and the same waters our members love. Work on the water, play on the water.
  • Real skills, real growth: Hands-on training and a clear path toward advanced technical roles — we grow our own.
  • Market leader: Washington State's largest members-only boat club, part of the world's oldest and most successful boat club network, established in 1989.
  • Team culture: A family culture of growth, passion, and people who take the work — and each other — seriously.
  • Comprehensive benefits: Medical, dental, and earned paid time off for full-time employees upon successful completion of the probationary period.

Pay & Compensation

Compensation is based on experience and skill level. We grow together — and we invest in the people who show up ready to learn.
