Hourly Rate of Pay: $19.66 - $21.67/hour
Work Locations: Varies
Work Hours/Days: Vary - Shifts vary up to 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8:30 am-5:30 pm, Saturday-Sunday 12:30 pm-5:30 pm
This position will end by September 18, 2026
Position responsible for the safety and well-being of patrons while they are at the pool, educating patrons on rules and regulations, enforcing rules, communicating instructions, and providing surveillance.
Incumbent facilitates swim lessons, maintains deck and facility cleanliness and safety, prevents injuries, participates in periodic in-service training, conducts opening/closing procedures for the pool, tests chemical balances, and renders first aid as needed.
Duties/Responsibilities

Records quality of chemicals and air in the pool area, reports irregularities to supervisor.

Maintains cleanliness of the pool deck, bathrooms, and showers, refilling supplies as needed.

Surveys the pool area, determines when to act, and issues warnings for rule infractions or unsafe behavior.

Provides customer service by addressing patron needs and referring inquiries to supervisor as appropriate.

Responds to emergencies, provides appropriate guidance to patrons, and administers first aid.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
-American Red Cross Lifeguard standards and regulations.
-Swimming pool filtration, correct pool balance limits and testing and filter room operation.
SKILL IN:
-Supervising a swimming instructional program.
-Communicating rules and regulations effectively to individuals and groups.
-Exercising initiative and good judgment.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Requires the ability to read, write and follow directions.

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Must possess and maintain valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certificate or certification by another nationally recognized agency which is valid at all pool facilities.
Additional Preferred Skills
-
Able to commit to meet with your supervisor, in person or virtually, at least once a month.

Able to communicate through emails and text messages.

A ble and comfortable to work at both indoor and outdoor pools.

Able to attend 2-4 hours of required training per month.

Plans and instructs swim lessons for various skill and ability levels, provides feedback to students and parents, and evaluates participant and course effectiveness.

Available to work on Saturdays and Sundays.

Available to work at least 20 hours per week and up to 40 hours per week.
