Position Summary:
The Technical Apparel Designer is responsible for designing and developing high-performance apparel that meets Eberlestock's standards for quality, durability, functionality, and fit. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of garment construction, technical fabrics, fit, and manufacturing processes, while maintaining a passion for creating innovative products that support hunters, military professionals, law enforcement, and outdoor enthusiasts.
About Eberlestock:
Eberlestock is a premium outdoor and tactical brand built on purpose, performance, and trust. Founded by an Olympic biathlete and driven by real-world experience, our products are designed to perform when it matters most - in the backcountry, in the field, and everywhere reliability is non-negotiable.
We're building more than gear. We're building a legacy brand that values craftsmanship, accountability, and people who take pride in doing things the right way. Our team is made up of individuals who care deeply about the work, challenge each other to be better, and understand that great products come from great people.
Our Core Values:
  • Authenticity, where integrity drives every decision.
  • Quality, because every detail, every feature, and every idea is a reflection of our standard of excellence.
  • Guarantee, not just in our gear, but in how we show up for our customers, our community, and each other.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop technical apparel from concept through production while ensuring products align with Eberlestock's brand standards and product strategy
  • Create and maintain detailed technical packages including garment specifications, construction details, bill of materials, measurement specifications, grading, and fit comments
  • Specify technical fabrics, trims, insulation, waterproof technologies, and garment components based on intended product performance
  • Develop apparel systems that balance comfort, durability, weather protection, mobility, weight, and packability
  • Design garments that integrate effectively with backpacks, load carriage systems, optics, and other technical equipment
  • Partner with Product Management to ensure product designs meet customer needs, target pricing, and overall product objectives
  • Lead garment fit sessions and document revisions to ensure consistent fit, comfort, and performance across all size ranges
  • Collaborate with domestic and overseas manufacturing partners to communicate design intent, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure quality standards are maintained
  • Coordinate prototype evaluations and incorporate feedback from field testing, athletes, ambassadors, and internal stakeholders into future product revisions
  • Monitor product quality throughout development and production while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Maintain project timelines and ensure deliverables are completed according to seasonal product development calendars
  • Stay informed of industry trends, emerging materials, manufacturing technologies, and competitor products to support continued product innovation

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design, Fashion Design, Textile Engineering, Product Development, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 3+ years of experience in technical apparel design, product development, or apparel engineering
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, grading, fit development, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience creating technical packages using Adobe Illustrator or similar design software
  • Working knowledge of performance fabrics, waterproof technologies, insulation systems, and garment construction techniques
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple development projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and international manufacturing partners
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality
  • Experience designing hunting, tactical, military, backpacking, mountaineering, or outdoor performance apparel
  • Familiarity with waterproof/breathable technologies, seam sealing, bonding, and advanced garment construction methods
  • Experience working directly with overseas manufacturing partners
  • Knowledge of camouflage systems, technical hunting apparel, and load carriage integration
  • Personal experience hunting, backpacking, mountaineering, or participating in other demanding outdoor pursuits
  • Ability to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally, including visits to manufacturing partners, field testing events, and other business-related activities
