Job description

The Hearth Doctor is hiring a Seasonal Installation Helper to work alongside one of our experienced lead installers during our busy season.

No fireplace or stove experience is required. We are willing to train someone who is dependable, works hard, and wants to learn a skilled trade.

This is a hands-on position helping install gas, wood, pellet, and electric fireplaces, stoves, and inserts in customers’ homes throughout southern Maine.

Pay

  • $21.00 to $24.00 per hour, depending on experience and ability
  • $500 end-of-season completion bonus for employees who successfully complete the agreed seasonal term
  • Paid, hands-on training

Applicants with construction, warehouse, delivery, moving, landscaping, mechanical, or other hands-on experience may qualify for a higher starting rate.

What You Will Do

You will work directly with an experienced lead installer and assist with each part of the installation process.

Responsibilities include:

  • Load and unload fireplaces, stoves, venting, tools, and materials
  • Help remove, move, and position appliances
  • Assist with gas, wood, pellet, and electric fireplace and stove installations
  • Prepare and protect customers’ homes before work begins
  • Hand tools and materials to the lead installer
  • Help assemble venting, components, and finishing materials
  • Keep company vehicles, tools, and jobsites clean and organized
  • Clean the work area after each installation
  • Learn proper installation practices, product requirements, and jobsite safety
  • Communicate respectfully with customers and coworkers

You will not be expected to perform licensed work independently. You will work under the direction of an experienced lead installer while learning the trade.

What We Are Looking For

  • No previous fireplace or stove experience required
  • Dependable and able to arrive on time
  • Strong work ethic
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions
  • Comfortable using basic hand and power tools
  • Able to work as part of a two-person crew
  • Comfortable performing physical work throughout the day
  • Able to safely lift and carry heavy materials with assistance
  • Willing to work inside customers’ homes, outdoors, and in different weather conditions
  • Respectful of customers, their homes, and their property
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation to work

Experience in construction, carpentry, HVAC, appliance installation, warehouse work, delivery, moving, landscaping, or other physical jobs is helpful but not required.

Physical Requirements

This position involves:

  • Regular lifting and carrying
  • Bending, kneeling, climbing, and working on your feet
  • Using hand and power tools
  • Moving fireplaces, stoves, venting, and installation materials
  • Working indoors and outdoors
  • Working in basements, crawlspaces, and other residential jobsite conditions when needed

Reasonable safety equipment and training will be provided.

We sell, install, service, and repair gas, wood, pellet, and electric fireplaces, stoves, and inserts throughout southern Maine.

Job Type: Seasonal, full-time

Pay: $21.00 to $24.00 per hour

Additional Compensation: $500 end-of-season completion bonus for eligible employees

Schedule: Monday through Friday, daytime hours based on installation demand

Work Location: Report to a Hearth Doctor location and travel with the installation crew to residential jobs throughout southern Maine
