ROLE SUMMARY

The Senior Director, Retail Sales (U.S.) is accountable for driving revenue and profitable growth of Burpee’s packet seed and seed starting products across the U.S. retail channel. This role owns key customer relationships, development and delivery of annual sales budgets, and ensuring alignment between sales commitments and operational delivery.

The Senior Director, Retail Sales, is a hands-on commercial leadership role focused on expanding Burpee’s business within a highly seasonal, competitive category while strengthening relationships with major national retailers and independent and regional customers.


LOCATION

Work remotely while building strong customer relationships in the field with with travel to the Warminster, PA, corporate office, as needed. Manage a remote team of 5.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and deliver sales revenue across U.S. retail channels, with full accountability for performance in a highly seasonal, fast-moving business
  • Set and execute commercial strategies and priorities across key channels, including Mass (i.e., Walmart), Food, Home Improvement, and Farm & Fleet, that drive profitable growth and margin expansion
  • Balance driving growth from existing customers with achieving new profitable retail distribution
  • Own end-to-end seasonal in-store execution, tracking, and corrective actions as needed to deliver budgets
  • Establish and enforce KPIs tied to revenue, margin, and sell-through across key accounts
  • Build and expand senior-level customer relationships; lead top-to-top engagement and annual account planning
  • Drive disciplined category management and performance analysis, using data to influence pricing, assortment, and go-to-market decisions
  • Manage operating budgets to ensure profitable execution
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a lean high-performing sales team
  • Serve as an positive, active and hands-on senior leader across Burpee

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10–15 years of relevant commercial leadership experience
  • Proven ownership of revenue in fast-moving consumer goods, preferably in highly seasonal categories
  • Strong category management capability, including pricing, assortment, and performance analysis
  • Experience leading sales across multiple retail channels, including mass (i.e., Walmart), food, home improvement, and farm and fleet
  • Demonstrated ownership of forecasting and delivery against annual revenue and budget targets
  • Experience operating within lawn and garden or adjacent seasonal or discretionary categories preferred
  • A bachelor’s degree is required. An MBA or other graduate degree is highly desirable
