Description
This is a seasonal, temporary summer position. Hours are typically Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with a 45 minute unpaid lunch break daily. Hours may include occasional nights and weekends as programs dictate. Late May - August 2026. Seasonal/temporary employees do not receive benefits.
Examples of Duties
Under the supervision of the Recreation Program Coordinator, the Program Supervisor is responsible for assisting with supervising, developing, implementing, and participating in a variety of summer recreation programs and activities. Assists with lesson planning, supporting seasonal summer staff, communication, customer service, and administrative tasks. This position oversees summer park program activities and alternates working at all locations: Ramsdell Park, Huset Park, and Muryzn Hall. Also provides general administrative support for the Recreation Department office. Programming includes, but is not limited to, day camps, field trips, special events, and youth sports when needed. Attending all seasonal staff training is required. Expected to actively participate and be hands-on.
Qualifications
  • Must have a background working with youth ages 4 - 14.
  • Must have adequate knowledge and experience working with recreation programs and activities.
  • Must be proficient in general office computers and equipment, including Microsoft Office programs.
  • Must demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and techniques, as well as behavioral management skills.
  • Must be professional and be able to work well with others and independently.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record desired.
  • Ability to work the entire summer (late May - August) with flexible daytime and evening hours, Monday - Friday.
  • Currently enrolled in a Recreation Management undergraduate program, or a degree in Recreation or a related field is a plus, but not required.

Supplemental Information
All Recreation Seasonal Employees MUST attend required staff training sessions. Training schedule is as follows: June 15 - June 18 from 10:30 am - 4:30 pm (no June 19). Please keep these dates open. Supervisor will start earlier than this, but will be discussed with Recreation Coordinator.
