Overview

The Ice Operations Supervisor will oversee the everyday operations of the CURE Arena ice rink, maintenance of Zambonis and ice-related equipment, and manage support staff and ice events.

This role pays an hourly rate of $23.54 - $29.42.

This position will remain open until August 28, 2026.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the operation of the arena ice rink, including maintenance of ice, ice builds and removal, hockey line placement, and functionality of equipment.
  • Ensure that safety standards and procedures are met and followed by all staff and patrons.
  • Coordinate and assist with oversight of ice rink events, such as hockey games, youth hockey practices and games, and public skate sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to ice rink operation and safety.
  • Order and maintain inventory of necessary supplies and equipment for ice rink operations.
  • Assist in performing event Changeovers and setups.
  • Assists / recommends hiring and performs training, scheduling, and supervision of changeover staff.
  • Oversee all ice installation and maintenance of the ice and its equipment.
  • Coordinate event logistics as assigned.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies to minimize downtime and ensure safety.
  • Supervise ice operations staff for non-event tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain and clean Zamboni and ice-related equipment and areas.
  • Assist the Operations Manager, Facilities Manager, Operations Supervisor, and Event Manager with projects as requested.
  • Adhere to all Venue Management Policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Facilities Manager with various related building projects, including repairs related to plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
  • Ensure staff complies with the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections performed on equipment.
  • Communicate "assigned task" status with the Operations Manager or Facilities Manager (in Manager's absence).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools effectively and safely.
  • 2-4 years of ice rink experience required.
  • Solid understanding of various maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical work, and carpentry.
  • Ability to operate and maintain a Zamboni or Ice resurface machine.
  • Ice School experience preferred but not a requirement.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues quickly.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles, with emphasis on working with & training a "casual" staff.
  • Previous ice maintenance and forklift driving experience is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of chillers, refrigeration, and ice making, specifically CO2 chilled systems, preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects unaided.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and an extended number of consecutive days.
