Job description

Job Title: Seasonal R&D Lab Technician (Product Development)

Location: Kannapolis (Onsite)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $20-$22/hour (based on experience)
Job Type: Contract (through September, potential for extension)


Position Overview

We are seeking a hands-on R&D Lab Technician to support product development efforts in a fast-paced laboratory environment focused on nutraceutical, pet, and veterinary products. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career or currently pursuing a degree who is interested in gaining practical experience in formulation, scale-up, and lab operations.

This role will work closely with a Scientist and play a key part in supporting benchtop trials, ingredient preparation, and data collection for new product development.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support formulation and development of new and existing products through benchtop mixing and scale-up activities
  • Weigh and prepare ingredients according to established formulas
  • Assist with powder, bar, and supplement product development trials
  • Operate and learn lab equipment such as particle size analyzers, powder flow testers, and capsule testing tools
  • Conduct and support studies including sensory, stability, and exploratory testing
  • Collect, document, and organize experimental data using Excel and internal systems
  • Maintain accurate lab records and ensure compliance with quality and safety standards
  • Keep laboratory space clean, organized, and fully stocked
  • Assist with general lab operations and additional tasks as needed

QualificationsRequired
  • Associate’s degree in a science-related field OR currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree (Food Science, Chemistry, Nutrition, or related)
  • 1–2+ years of hands-on lab, manufacturing, or internship experience
  • Basic understanding of formulations, ingredients, or product development
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on environment and being on your feet for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
Preferred
  • Experience in food science, nutraceuticals, or supplement development
  • Familiarity with lab equipment and formulation processes
  • Experience with Excel or formulation software
