Job description

Position:         GIS Technician II

Location:        Naperville, IL [Hybrid – Monday through Thursday Onsite, Friday Remote]
Client:            Nicor Gas
Duration:        3 Years

 

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced GIS Technician II to support GIS data management, map creation, database updates, and utility mapping activities for Nicor Gas.

The ideal candidate will have 2–4 years of experience using ESRI GIS software, tools, and databases, along with strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve data inconsistencies. Gas utility and as-built mapping experience are preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine GIS data management and mapping tasks.
  • Create maps and visual representations using ESRI GIS tools.
  • Maintain accurate and timely updates to GIS databases.
  • Review GIS data for completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with GIS Analysts on complex projects.
  • Support as-built mapping and utility asset documentation.
  • Provide input on GIS tools, workflows, and system enhancements.
  • Follow established GIS standards, procedures, and quality requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in Geographic Information Systems or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of related GIS experience.
  • Hands-on experience with ESRI GIS software, tools, and databases.
  • Experience with GIS data editing, map creation, and database maintenance.
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Ability to troubleshoot GIS data issues.
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work the required hybrid schedule in Naperville, IL.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Gas utility experience.
  • As-built mapping experience.
  • Experience supporting utility assets, engineering records, or infrastructure mapping.
