JOB SUMMARY: The Fluid Running Instructor role is responsible for leading and instructing the Fluid Running classes offered to the members and guests of the Centennial Family Aquatic Center.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represents the Centennial Family Aquatic Center in a professional, courteous and enthusiastic manner
- Every staff member, regardless of position, has a primary and urgent responsibility to clean and disinfect all club components as members and guests and yourself use them
- Arrive at the pool 15 minutes in advance, prepare and provide an entertaining, effective and safe group exercise program for the participants
- Ensure that classes are taught within ACSM, AFAA, ACE, and Fluid Running guidelines, preparing and leading all levels of exercise classes designed to improve cardiovascular endurance, muscle tone, and the ability to perform activities of daily living
- Follow the class format designed by Fluid Running, instruct participants on proper form and technique and modify classes to meet the needs of the participants
- Greet each member and guest by name when they enter and leave the Diving Well and assist in facilitating personal contact between members when they are in the group exercise areas
- Motivate members and guests to achieve optimal performance and self-development
- Promote the facility’s services to members and guests
- Provide exceptional customer satisfaction by answering inquiries and comments regarding programs through efficient and timely communication
- Assist with the organization and preventative maintenance of the stereos and equipment
- Work with the Aquatics and Ice Supervisor to optimize resources and provider availability, while scheduling programs that meet the diverse needs of members
- Responsible for growing program efficiency, satisfaction and innovation
- Attend all required department continuing education meetings and relevant member appreciation events
- Remain current in group exercise programming and all job-related certifications by participating in professional organizations, attending conferences and continuing education
- Respond to all emergencies according to the Wilmette Park District policies and procedures
- Actively contribute to the Park District's sustainability goals
- Perform other related duties as assigned, based on agency needs
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively support the safety program that will effectively control and reduce accidents
- Obey the practical safety rules, regulations, and procedures established by the Wilmette Park District safety program that are pertinent to the activities conducted by the department
- Become familiar with and follow the safety procedures of the Wilmette Park District, including, but not limited to, fire, severe weather, and evacuation procedures
- Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices, or conditions observed to the immediate supervisor, Human Resources/Risk Management division
- Attend and participate in required safety training

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 18 years of age or older
- Two or more years’ experience in a related field
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Considerable physical effort. Regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Must frequently lift or move average-weight material and occasionally lift or move heavy-weight material
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS:
- Group Exercise Certification through a nationally accredited association, such as ACE, ACSM, or AFAA, is required for instruction of group exercise classes
- Specialty Group Exercise certifications through nationally recognized organizations, such as YOGA, Pilates, Pilates Reformer, Schwinn/Jonny G cycling, Zumba, WERQ, Fluid Running are required for specialty group instruction
