Job description

ICU Travel RN Opportunity at Baptist Medical Center South

Join Baptist Medical Center South for a travel nursing position in the ICU. This 13-week assignment starts on June 27, 2026, and ends on September 26, 2026. The shift is from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with three shifts per week. The facility is a 492-bed Level II Trauma Center and Level III NICU, recognized as a Primary Stroke Center.

The facility will accept first-time travelers with at least two years of experience and experience in Cerner or EPIC. Traditional travelers with at least two years of experience are also welcome.

The ICU will assign you to a home unit on the first day of orientation. The unit specializes in general cardiac care, with patient types including STEMI, post heart cath with interventions, respiratory failure/ventilated, post cardiac arrest, post stroke care, renal failure, hypertensive emergency, sepsis, and critical care needs.

Skills required include vent care, hemodynamic monitoring, medication titrations, arterial line, IABP, Impella, EKOS, CRRT (PrismaFlex), chest tube, Swan ganz catheter, FloTrac monitoring, titratable drip management, and hypothermia protocol.

Patient ratios are 1:2. Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS. Support on the unit includes CNAs, phlebotomists, IV/VAT teams, and hospitalists. RNs are required to read and measure tele strips.

ICU monitoring technology includes Cerner EMR, Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors.

Orientation includes 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit for new or return travelers who have been gone for one year or more. Rehires will have orientation based on their last date of employment.

Scheduling includes every other weekend rotation, with no on-call requirement. Holiday expectations are one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. The facility can approve up to seven days off, excluding provided blackout dates, with NM/Eanh approval for blackout dates.

Shift times are 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The schedule cycle is six weeks.
