Job description

Our Church
First Baptist Church of Alcoa (FBA) is seeking a full-time Next Generation Director to help us multiply disciples of Jesus Christ by leading our ministries from birth through high school graduation.

We are a revitalizing church with an average Sunday morning attendance of 100 and a vision of every home in every neighborhood transformed by hope in Christ. We are committed to expository preaching, meaningful church membership, intentional discipleship, personal evangelism, and prayerful dependence on God.

Position Summary

The Next Generation Director will provide leadership for the discipleship of children, students, and their families by overseeing our ministries from birth through high school graduation. He will cast and implement a unified vision for next generation ministry, develop volunteers and future leaders, and help children and students grow into mature disciples of Christ.

Initially, the Director will personally lead either the children’s ministry or the student ministry while providing oversight for both. As the church grows, he will recruit, equip, and supervise additional leaders and staff.

He will also serve alongside the Senior Pastor in the broader work of shepherding the church through teaching, leadership, pastoral care, and administration.

Qualifications
  • Meet the biblical qualifications for church leadership found in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:5–9.
  • Be in agreement with First Baptist Alcoa’s Statement of Faith and willing to become a covenant member.
  • Demonstrate spiritual maturity, strong leadership, organizational ability, and a heart for shepherding people.
  • Be gifted in teaching God’s Word and equipping volunteers for ministry.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Have experience leading children’s ministry, student ministry, or a similar church ministry.
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in ministry or a related field. A seminary degree from an SBC or theologically like‑minded institution is preferred, or a willingness to pursue one.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee all ministries from birth through high school graduation.
  • Shepherd children, students, parents, volunteers, and families.
  • Recruit, train, encourage, and lead volunteer teams.
  • Develop a biblically faithful, prayerful, and disciple‑making culture throughout next generation ministries.
  • Equip parents to serve as the primary disciplers of their children.
  • Lead outreach to the community, including the public schools.
  • Support the Senior Pastor through preaching, leadership, pastoral care, and other ministry responsibilities as needed.
Position Details
  • Position: Next Generation Director
  • Status: Full-time, exempt
  • Reports to: Senior Pastor
  • Salary: Competitive salary based on education, experience, and qualifications
  • Benefits: Health insurance, paid time off, and holidays according to church policy
