Job description

Seasonal EDU Programming Coordinator
Job Purpose
SXSW is seeking a Seasonal EDU Programming Coordinator who works closely with the Programming team to produce and execute a robust program for the SXSW EDU Conference & Festival. They support programming efforts across all elements of the event.
Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Assist with asset management and program execution for competitions, such as Launch and the Student Impact Challenge
  • Assist with asset management and program execution for the SXSW EDU Film program
  • Collaborate with the programming and production teams to coordinate and execute performances and other programmatic elements.
  • Coordinate and organize logistical information for high-profile programming, including keynotes and featured sessions.
  • Assist in executing custom programming engagements, including but not limited to the mentor program, meet-ups, and podcast sessions.
  • Communicate with organizers, participants, and speakers in support of event advancement and preparation through leading customer service platforms.
  • Manage program information and compile assets for programming as it relates to marketing and external promotion.
  • Assist in the internal processing, tracking, and logistics for all programming.

On-Site Event Responsibilities
  • Support and coordinate programming execution on-site across all venues
  • Support the overall production of the event, including troubleshooting any onsite issues with programming, and helping registrants and speakers with customer service needs
  • Additional event support duties as needed throughout SXSW

Qualifications & Skills
Qualifications include:
  • 2+ years of experience in event programming and/or project management
  • Proven self-starter with strong prioritization and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and customer service experience
  • Strong attention to detail, copy-editing experience
  • Interest/experience in the field of education
  • Ability to work within a team dynamic and communicate in a respectful manner
  • Proficient in Google Workspace, Airtable, FileMaker Pro, and Zendesk

Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, as needed.
  • Operation of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers.
  • May require occasional bending, reaching, kneeling, or climbing stairs.
  • Ability to work outdoors, including exposure to varying temperatures or noise levels.
  • Possibility to stay on-site in company provided accommodations during the event.

Work Location & Schedule
The position is full-time and located in Austin, Texas. Core business office hours are from 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday. You must be available to work additional hours from January through March, including evenings and weekends. You must also be available for the March event, which will have extended working hours on-site.
