Job description

GPI is seeking Seasonal Drainage Field Assistants to support a town-wide drainage inventory project in Seekonk, Massachusetts. This is a seasonal, field-based position anticipated to run from June through August 2026. Work hours are weather-dependent and may vary by week. Candidates will be required to report directly to the job site for each working day. On-site training and supervision will be provided. This position requires the ability to work outdoors during summer conditions, the ability to safely assist with lifting and maneuvering drainage structure covers using provided equipment, and an interest in learning survey and data collection techniques.

Responsibilities:

Working as part of a two-person field crew, the candidate will help:

  • Locate drainage structures using mobile data collection applications
  • Open and inspect drainage structures (catch basins, manholes, outfalls, etc.)
  • Take basic measurements and record observations
  • Capture and upload photos linked to each drainage structure
  • Enter required data into mobile application with accuracy to create mapped drainage features

Candidates will pair with an experienced GPI staff member and work under direct supervision, learning field procedures, data standards, and safety practices. Responsibilities may increase as skills and experience develop while maintaining appropriate oversight.

Qualifications:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Experience or interest in Civil Engineering, Survey, Mapping, and/or Stormwater Management
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Ability to lift more than 50 lbs.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
