Job description

Job Title: Field Inspector
Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Field Inspector to manage and coordinate NJUNS activities, ensuring that all processes are conducted accurately and efficiently. The role involves close collaboration with utilities, municipalities, and third-party attachment owners, and includes overseeing field inspections and quality assurance to maintain high standards of compliance and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor all NJUNS activity, including attachment transfers, additions, and removals.
  • Ensure requests are processed accurately and within required timelines.
  • Maintain detailed records related to pole ownership, attachment inventory, and transfer status.
  • Coordinate field inspections for pole attachments and make-ready work.
  • Verify that all construction and attachment activities meet NESC requirements and company standards.
  • Review completed transfers and installations to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Identify deficiencies or non-compliant conditions and support corrective action efforts.
  • Participate in post-construction inspections to validate completed work.
  • Partner with engineering, construction, and operations teams to support NJUNS-related projects.
  • Track transfer progress, inspection schedules, and key project milestones.
  • Provide stakeholders with regular updates, reporting, and project status information.
  • Help prioritize work activities based on project schedules, customer needs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain NJUNS records, internal databases, and project documentation.
  • Prepare reports on transfer activity, inspection outcomes, and overall workflow performance.
  • Analyze data to identify opportunities for process improvements, increased efficiency, and reduced delays.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Support safe work practices by promoting adherence to field inspection and construction standards.
Essential Skills
  • 1-3 years of experience with utility poles and NESC codes.
  • Proficient knowledge of poles and all attachments on a pole.
  • Experience in construction management, inspection, and pole load and replacement.
  • Familiarity with GIS analysis, AutoCAD, NJUNS, and NESC.
  • Ability to resolve discrepancies, rejected requests, and overdue actions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Field inspection experience.
  • Pole transfer project experience.
  • Utility compliance auditing.
Work Environment

The role involves remote work with travel to different poles for inspection in the Middle Tennessee area. The inspector will be working 10-hour shifts four days a week, spending 50%-75% of the time in the field and 25% working from home uploading pictures and documenting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
