Title: Certified Pool Operator Instructor

Employment Type: Contract to Hire

Compensation Range: $40.00 to $48.00 per hour

Location: Las Vegas, NV

Work Schedule: Part-time, onsite, two evening classes weekly with possible weekends, approximately 20 hours per week

Company Overview

A national labor organization is seeking a Certified Pool Operator Instructor to teach at a Las Vegas academic center. This position supports technical workforce training initiatives focused on pool operations, facilities maintenance, public safety compliance, and operational instruction within regulated facilities environments.

Position Summary

The Certified Pool Operator Instructor will deliver classroom and onsite instruction related to pool and spa operations, water chemistry, public bathing codes, filtration systems, preventative maintenance, and safety compliance. The role requires strong technical knowledge, instructional capability, and operational experience within commercial or institutional facilities environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Certified Pool Operator curriculum covering public safety, water chemistry, filtration, circulation, seasonal pool care, pool management strategies, testing procedures, maintenance operations, disease prevention, and accident prevention
  • Deliver classroom and practical instruction related to water treatment systems, preventative maintenance, and facilities engineering operations
  • Develop and maintain curriculum materials for Certified Pool Operator courses
  • Teach compliance with OSHA standards, equipment safety, dilution procedures, and blood-borne pathogen precautions
  • Supervise, coach, evaluate, and motivate students in classroom and operational training environments
  • Coordinate with academic leadership, instructors, and operational staff to support training effectiveness and student success
  • Maintain accurate records, inspection reports, and operational documentation
  • Order instructional materials and complete assignments within designated timelines and budget parameters
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and leadership both verbally and in writing
  • Support operational inspections, facilities evaluations, and compliance activities as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Pool Operator certification required
  • Nevada State Certification Exam completion required
  • Minimum 5 years of Certified Pool Operator experience at a chief or supervisory level
  • Minimum 4 years of instructional experience required
  • Experience with chemical adjustment, backwashing, water sampling, and treatment operations
  • Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with building automation systems
  • Ability to safely lift heavy tools and materials and operate technical equipment requiring dexterity
  • Ability to work evening and weekend schedules as needed
  • PHTA membership required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Facilities Engineering Technology or related discipline
  • Experience within casino, hospitality, or large-scale commercial facilities environments
  • Indoor Air Quality Certification or LEED Certification preferred
  • Formal classroom teaching or technical training experience preferred
  • Experience analyzing technical issues and supporting regulatory compliance initiatives
