What is a seasonal Eplan electrical design engineer?

Seasonal Eplan Electrical Design Engineers are professionals hired on a temporary or contract basis, typically during peak project periods, to design electrical systems using EPLAN software. They are responsible for creating detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, and documentation that meet project specifications and industry standards. Their work supports engineering teams in industries such as manufacturing, automation, and process control. By utilizing EPLAN, they help streamline the design process, reduce errors, and improve efficiency. These engineers often work closely with project managers, electricians, and other engineers to ensure successful project completion within tight deadlines.

How does the work schedule and team collaboration typically look for a seasonal Eplan electrical design engineer?

As a Seasonal Eplan Electrical Design Engineer, you can expect to work on a project-based schedule, often aligning with peak production or development cycles. Your role will involve close collaboration with project managers, mechanical engineers, and production teams to ensure electrical schematics meet project deadlines and standards. While some tasks can be performed independently, regular meetings and design reviews are common to coordinate changes and resolve issues quickly. The seasonal aspect means workloads may fluctuate, with the busiest periods requiring strong time management and adaptability.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a seasonal Eplan electrical design engineer, and why are they important?

A Seasonal Eplan Electrical Design Engineer should possess strong electrical engineering knowledge, experience in circuit design, and a relevant engineering degree. Mastery of EPLAN Electric P8 software, familiarity with CAD tools, and understanding of industry standards like IEC or UL are crucial for technical accuracy. Exceptional problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help ensure project requirements are clearly met and timelines are honored. These competencies are vital to produce reliable electrical schematics and documentation efficiently during peak project periods.

What is the difference between Seasonal Eplan Electrical Design Engineer vs Eplan Electrical Designer?

AspectSeasonal Eplan Electrical Design EngineerEplan Electrical Designer
CredentialsRelevant electrical engineering certifications, Eplan software proficiencyElectrical design certifications, Eplan software skills
Work EnvironmentProject-based, seasonal workload, construction sites, engineering officesDesign offices, engineering teams, project planning environments
Industry UsageConstruction, renewable energy, industrial projects with seasonal demandsElectrical design firms, manufacturing, industrial automation

The Seasonal Eplan Electrical Design Engineer focuses on electrical design tasks during specific seasons, often related to construction or renewable projects, while the Eplan Electrical Designer typically works on ongoing electrical schematics and layouts. Both roles require similar certifications and software skills but differ mainly in project timing and scope.

Negotiable

Advanced (5-10 yrs)

We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer, Multilayer PCBA & System Design (Altium & EPLAN). This position will be based in Atlanta GA.

Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates**

You’ll make a difference with:
  • PCBA and System Design Expertise: Design and manage multilayer PCBs (4-16 layers) using Altium Designer, including high-speed digital, analog, and power circuits. Perform system-level electrical schematic design in EPLAN, ensuring controlled-impedance stack-ups and optimizing component placement/routing for signal integrity, power integrity, and EMI mitigation.
  • Lifecycle Management & Documentation: Oversee component selection for performance, quality, lifecycle, and cost. Generate comprehensive manufacturing documentation (Gerbers, ODB++, IPC-2581, BOMs) and system-level documentation. Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and maintain revision control for both PCB and system designs.
  • Collaboration & Manufacturability: Partner with procurement, PCB fabricators, and contract manufacturers to ensure Design for Manufacturability/Testability (DFM/DFT) compliance. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to diagnose and resolve issues, and supervise prototype builds.
  • Testing, Validation & Compliance: Create and review product/process test reports and plans. Conduct engineering assurance evaluations, including Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (DFMEA). Ensure electrical designs meet relevant agency requirements and standards (e.g., UL2202, NFPA/NEC, ISO 15118), and participate in certification processes.
  • Multi-functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, Procurement, Project Management, and Manufacturing to resolve technical issues. Manage new materials/components in SAP, coordinate vendor selection, and handle obsolete/replacement parts.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Mechatronics
  • 3+ years of experience with the following:
    • Advanced PCB Design & Layout: Expert proficiency in Altium Designer for schematic capture, multilayer (4-16 layers) PCB layout including controlled impedance, differential pairs, and high-speed practices, and ECO management.
    • Circuit Design & Integrity: Strong experience in designing mixed-signal, digital, analog, and power circuitry, coupled with in-depth knowledge of signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, and EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
    • Manufacturing & Documentation: Proven ability to develop PCB stack-ups with fabricators, generate comprehensive manufacturing documentation (Gerbers, ODB++, IPC-2581, BOMs, assembly drawings), and collaborate with manufacturers on DFM/DFT reviews. Familiarity with IPC standards (IPC-2221/2222, IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610) is essential.
    • Hardware Debug & Component Management: Skilled in troubleshooting and debugging hardware during prototype and production builds, with a solid understanding of component selection, lifecycle management, and supply chain considerations.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in engineering with a concentration in power systems.
  • Familiarity with ANSI, IEEE, UL, SAE and NEMA standards for DC Chargers.
  • System-level electrical schematic design using EPLAN.
  • Electrical design for DC Electric Chargers.
  • Some experience working with C/C++ or Python for Linux based Controllers.
