Job description

Adventist Health Ukiah Valley is seeking an experienced Psychologist to join our facility. Adventist Health Ukiah Valley is a teaching hospital, with a Full Spectrum Rural Family Medicine residency program Adventist Health Ukiah Valley (ahfamilyresidency.org) in Ukiah, CA. Medical Staff are invited and expected to support the training of residents through Didactics and Applied Clinical Practice.

This position provides mental health assessments, diagnosis, treatment and crisis intervention services for adult and/or child members who present themselves from psychiatric evaluation with a broad range of mental health needs. Collaborates with treating physician, psychiatric and allied health professional team to plan and direct each individual member's treatment program.

A Faculty Psychologist in Family Medicine is a clinical and educational role that integrates behavioral health expertise with primary care training. The position supports residency and medical student education while delivering evidence-based mental health services in a family medicine setting. The Faculty Psychologist works under the supervision of the Residency Program Director or Associate Program Director to:

  • Develop, coordinate, direct, and evaluate behavioral health programs and curricula within the residency program.
  • Provide resident clinical supervision for the Ukiah Valley Family Medicine Residency Program, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered training
  • Maintain quality-driven, evidence-based care for patients and families, with a focus on rural, underserved, minority, and elderly populations
  • Serve as part of an interdisciplinary, collaborative team in the residency program, fostering lifelong learning and mentorship for residents and faculty

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care in outpatient behavioral health settings, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health and behavioral health conditions
  • Implement collaborative, stepped, and measurement-based care models in primary care
  • Provide behavioral health expertise in interdisciplinary quality improvement and research projects
  • Supervise and teach residents, and medical students in clinical psychology
  • Collaborate with primary care teams to integrate behavioral health into routine care.
  • Participate in residency and/or hospital committees including clinical competence, graduate medical education, program evaluation.

Education

  • PhD/PsyD/EdD in Clinical Counseling, Health or School Psychology from an accredited college or university.
  • Current valid license to practice psychology in the State of California or valid license to practice in a state in the United States and able to practice under Business and Professional Code Section 2946 (maximum of 180 days subject to the specifics of the regulation).
  • Must have a National Provider Identifier (NPI) or obtain NPI, prior to employment start date.

Adventist Health Ukiah Valley (AHUV) is part of the North Coast Network of Adventist Health, which includes two acute care facilities, three critical access medical centers and a center for behavioral health. All sorts of recreational opportunities can be found at Lake Mendocino, just five miles from Ukiah, with over 100 family picnic sites, boat launching ramps, fishing, a swimming beach, hiking trails and much more. The Grace Hudson Museum makes for another entertaining diversion, featuring exhibitions of the works of artist Grace Hudson as well as local, regional and Californian Native American artists.
