What You'll Do
As a Rad Post Processing Tech, you will report to the Coordinator/Director. Performs post processing of imaging. Performs licensed imaging when needed and procedures that require independent judgment and a high degree of precision and skill in the application of high technology imaging equipment. Follows protocols and procedures as directed by the radiologist and/or supervising technologist.
Rad Post Processing Tech Job Responsibilities:
  • Post-processes all required imaging procedures across multiple facilities in accordance with established protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Performs licensed imaging of all body parts per protocol, ensuring quality and compliance standards are met.
  • Obtains and documents pertinent clinical history to support radiologist interpretation.
  • Communicates with referring physicians and healthcare staff and relays reports as needed.
  • Explains imaging procedures to patients and families to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Maintains sterile and isolation techniques to prevent contamination.
  • Performs IV contrast administration when applicable, including allergy screening, patient assessment, and escalation to radiology nurse or radiologist as needed; provides emergency support including CPR when required.
  • Assists physicians with special imaging procedures.
  • Prepares final documentation and uploads images into PACS.
  • Operates computed radiology equipment and transmits images to Nighthawk.
  • Tracks and documents examinations using the Radiology Information System.
  • Performs system start-up and shutdown procedures, reports equipment malfunctions, and maintains clean and organized equipment and accessories.
  • Completes additional duties and projects as assigned to support departmental operations and maintain professional competency.

What You Bring
As a Rad Post Processing Tech, it requires knowledge of radiation-emitting units and demonstrates skill in properly positioning patients for all examinations. Possesses strong communication skills to accurately understand and follow written and verbal instructions. Exhibits interest in scientific, technical, and computer knowledge to master imaging protocols while minimizing patient exposure. Utilizes computer skills to maintain accurate patient treatment records.
Required Qualifications
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are acquired through graduation from an approved school of radiology technology with registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART), certification by the Indiana State Board of Health and three months of on-the-job training.
