Job description

Amazon Manufacturing Services is an internal Amazon service specializing in the production of high-quality components through additive manufacturing (3D printing), CNC machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, powder coating, and assembly. We serve design engineers, product developers, operations engineers, and retail product concept testing teams across Amazon.
About the Role
AMS seeks an Additive Manufacturing Technician to support additive manufacturing operations in our manufacturing facility. You will manage machine turnover, parts cleaning, and post-processing by following daily work orders and work instructions. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work with 3D printing equipment and hand tools. You will report to the Additive Manufacturing Manager.
Key job responsibilities
Additive Manufacturing Operations
• Operate 3D printing equipment according to standard operating procedures and work instructions
• Manage machine turnover including build removal, bed cleaning, and machine preparation for next jobs
• Monitor print jobs and report any issues or anomalies to Additive Manufacturing Manager
• Load materials and consumables into 3D printers
• Maintain accurate production logs and equipment run time records
Post-Processing and Finishing
• Perform parts cleaning including support removal, surface finishing, and cleaning operations
• Conduct light assembly work on 3D printed components
• Use hand tools for detailed post-processing work including sanding, filing, and deburring
• Follow work instructions for specific post-processing requirements
• Handle parts carefully to prevent damage during post-processing
Quality and Inspection
• Perform visual inspections of 3D printed parts for quality defects
• Verify parts meet work order specifications
• Identify and report quality issues to Additive Manufacturing Manager
• Support first article inspections for new parts
• Maintain quality standards throughout production process
Material Handling and Organization
• Organize finished parts and prepare for downstream operations or shipping
• Maintain organized work area and enforce 5S standards
• Manage material inventory and notify manager of material needs
• Return unused materials to proper storage locations
• Handle 3D printed parts carefully to prevent damage
Safety and Compliance
• Follow all safety protocols and training requirements
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Maintain clean and safe work environment
• Report and escalate safety incidents immediately
• Support ISO 9001 compliance through proper documentation
• Meet export control requirements where specified
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Coordinate with Additive Manufacturing Manager on daily work priorities
• Communicate with other manufacturing teams on component readiness
• Support quality engineers with quality investigations
• Work with Application Engineers on new part requirements
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- • High school diploma or GED
- • 1+ years of hands-on experience working on additive parts related to consumer products, engineering parts, and prototype design
- • 1+ years of hands-on experience conducting light assembly work
- • Demonstrated attitude of world-class quality, attention to detail, and dedication
- • Demonstrated record of accomplishment of resourcefulness from previous assignments
- • Ability to support your shift and overtime as necessary
- • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- • 5+ years using hand tools that required fine detailed work
- • Vocational/technical training in digital manufacturing
- • Proven ability to read/work through prints and 3D models
- • Mechanical aptitude for resolving issues as they arise
- • 5+ years steady work experience
- • Experience with multiple 3D printing technologies (FDM, SLA, SLS, MJF, etc.)
- • Familiarity with CAD software and print preparation tools

The starting pay for this position is listed below, including the base pay rate plus the highest available shift differential which applies depending on the shift you select. As a total compensation company, additional earnings may include shift differentials and overtime pay. Final pay will be based on factors including shift selection and location.
