Job description

The Marketing Manager leads the agency's marketing strategy and execution to drive brand awareness, lead generation, client engagement, and business growth. This role owns the annual marketing plan, develops integrated campaigns, oversees content and communications, and manages the day-to-day execution of the team.

This hands‑on manager will spend time thinking strategically while also creating campaigns, analyzing performance, managing communications, and ensuring marketing initiatives are delivered on time and with excellence. This involves collaborating with internal teams and executive leadership to produce campaigns and implementation strategies.

Candidates must be located in Des Moines, IA metro area to be considered for this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing Strategy and Leadership

In collaboration with strategy owners, develop, manage and organize the agency's annual marketing strategy aligned with business goals.

Lead and execute integrated marketing campaigns that generate qualified leads and strengthen brand awareness.

Establish marketing KPIs and regularly report on campaign performance.

Identify new opportunities to increase visibility within the nonprofit and planned giving sectors.

Campaign Development and Execution

Lead the execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns by coordinating with cross‑functional team members (e.g., email marketing, social media, content marketing, webinars, events, PR).

Oversee campaign calendars and ensure consistent messaging across all channels.

Implement customer research, market conditions and competitor data into each marketing campaign.

Brand Management

Guide development of thought leadership content including blogs, guides, webinars, case studies, and newsletters.

Ensure brand consistency across all marketing materials and alignment with client deliverables.

Maintain and evolve messaging that positions the agency as a trusted leader in planned giving marketing.

Manage website content and coordinate ongoing improvements.

Marketing Effectiveness and Team Efficiencies

Support the management of the marketing budget, prioritizing initiatives based on ROI.

Optimize marketing automation and lead generation workflows.

Monitor the productivity of plans and projects, making adjustments as needed.

Follow all established SOPs; works within all established guidelines and makes recommendations to improve current SOPs.

Continuously evaluate marketing workflows, systems, and processes, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and collaboration.

Employee Branding and Internal Communication

Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute marketing initiatives that promote and support the Stelter culture and employee brand.

Own employee marketing communication, keeping employees aware of marketing plans and initiatives that impact our client work.

Industry Engagement

Coordinate the agency's presence at conferences and industry events.

Collaborate on webinars, speaking opportunities, and strategic partnerships.

Stay current on nonprofit fundraising, planned giving, and digital marketing trends.

Leads and Manages the Marketing Team

Confidently manage, coach and develop the team in a fast‑paced, multitasking environment to drive projects to completion while creating a culture conducive to creativity and productivity.

Hire and onboard employees within the department and provide performance management of all direct reports in accordance with company policy.

Foster collaboration and continuous improvement within the marketing function.

Deliver key department communications related to strategic direction, expectations and change initiatives.

Create opportunities to enhance growth and development of individuals within the department.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Proven knowledge of contemporary marketing principles, including principles for promoting and selling products and services.

Strong project management and organizational skills.

Knowledge of marketing automation platforms, CRM systems, Google Analytics, SEO, and digital advertising.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field.

8‑10+ years of progressive marketing experience.

Experience developing and executing integrated marketing strategies.

Experience managing or mentoring team members.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

May be required to remain stationary for an extended length of time.

Regularly operates standard office equipment including a computer, copier, printer, etc.

Must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds for event materials or shipments.

Travels as needed for conferences and events.

Assembles and dismantles conference exhibits, including moving materials on the exhibit floor and using basic tools.
