Job description

SEO Specialist
Bill Colwell Ford and Colwell Motors of Mason City are looking for an SEO Specialist to take ownership of the organic search performance across our dealership websites. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing dealership group and make a measurable impact on our business. You'll be responsible for improving our visibility in Google Search, Google Maps, and emerging AI-powered search platforms, helping customers find us when they're shopping for a vehicle, scheduling service, ordering parts, or researching their next purchase. If you're analytical, naturally curious, enjoy solving problems, and love seeing measurable results from your work, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
  • Develop and execute our SEO strategy across multiple dealership websites.
  • Research keywords and identify opportunities to increase organic traffic.
  • Optimize page titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links, and website content.
  • Improve rankings for vehicle sales, service, parts, financing, and local search terms.
  • Monitor website health, indexing, crawlability, Core Web Vitals, and site speed.
  • Implement and maintain structured data (schema markup).
  • Identify technical SEO issues and coordinate improvements with our website provider.
  • Manage and optimize Google Business Profiles and online business listings.
  • Improve visibility in Google Maps and local search results.
  • Create and optimize landing pages, service pages, FAQs, and other SEO-focused website content.
  • Monitor website performance using Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and other SEO tools.
  • Track rankings, traffic, and lead generation while identifying opportunities for continued growth.
  • Analyze competitor performance and share recommendations with dealership leadership.

What We're Looking For
  • A degree in Marketing, Communications, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field-or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of SEO principles and search engine best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
  • The ability to learn new technology and adapt to Google's evolving search landscape.
  • A self-motivated mindset with the ability to manage projects independently.

Bonus Points
  • Experience with Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
  • Experience managing Google Business Profiles.
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, or website structure.
  • Experience using SEO tools such as Semrush, Ahrefs, Moz, or BrightLocal.
  • Experience with schema markup, Core Web Vitals, or technical SEO.
  • Experience working with dealership websites or automotive marketing.

Why Join Our Team?
You'll have the opportunity to own the SEO strategy for a growing dealership group. Your work will directly impact website traffic, lead generation, vehicle sales, service appointments, and business growth.
Unlike working at an agency, you'll see the results of your work firsthand and have the freedom to recommend new ideas, test strategies, and continuously improve our websites. We're committed to staying ahead of the evolving search landscape-including AI-powered search-and we're looking for someone who's excited to grow alongside us.

In 2025, we expanded with the acquisition of Colwell Motors of Mason City, creating a growing dealership group representing Ford, Lincoln, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram.
