A Filleter I at Pacific Seafood is a key role on our Production team supporting efforts to properly fillet various species of fish for sales, ensuring maximum use of product. This position involves properly cutting, and filleting products to ensure quality and is ideal for someone who is a good communicator, meticulous, and follows procedures.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Quality Control and Assurance
    • Properly cut and grade all types of fish to ensure lowest percentage of loss and maximum shelf life
    • Preciously cut and fillet 10-60 lb. fish with a knife.
    • Survey all equipment to ensure proper working order.
  2. Hygiene and Sanitation
    • Sanitize work area and equipment before filleting.
    • Clean-up workstation and department.
    • Dispose of waste and excess product properly.
  3. Communication and Teamwork
    • Inform supervisor of any changes or problems.
    • Communicate quality issues to supervisors and merchandising.
    • Assist coworkers in times of high workload.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as deemed necessary to support the overall goals and objectives of the position.

  • Ability to use hands and fingers to carefully complete tasks and skillful actions, making sure to pay close attention to details and accuracy.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two and three-syllable words and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to understand and carry out written or oral instructions.
  • Capable of working and communicating in loud environments, while focusing on tasks.
  • Capable of training in using specialized tools and equipment pertinent to operations.
  • Capable of solving simple math equations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
